I've researched this, but cannot find on this site or on the internet where someone has detailed the install of the Acumen Gear Indicator for the VFR. I know some of you listed this as one of your "winter mods", so I was hoping to throw this out to see if someone has done it yet.
    Many Thanks.

    Acumen

OK, I sent Acumen a e-mail asking where the Plug n Play harness plugs in, and I received the below answer back.

"The harness plugs into the back of your speedo/tacho unit where your master harness is plugged in." "Your master harness then plugs into the back of the Acumen harness." "Also, you must 'teach' the gear-indicator for your specific bike once it is installed." "All in all, it is very straight forward, easy to install and teach."

How difficult is it to get to the back of the speedo/tach??

Come on Stuka........Help a brother from another mother!!

ja-ja-ja-jammer....sorry senor, but I am an "outcast" 5th gen member, left in the corner like an old used rubber.

I don't have a 6th gen, but I would assume that taking off the windscreen and upper fairing is probably necessary. Open up that bible (repair man) and have a look-see.

How does that gear changer get the signal of a gear change? Drop in RPM for a shift, or what? If so, it seems that it would be stuck in a higher gear or something once you come to a stop without down shifting.

why not just tie a string from your clipon to a grease pencil and then mark on the fairing? :noidea:

I ended up just remembering on my stock 6th gen, in 6th gear 5K rpm ~70mph, 4Krpm ~ 60mph. by looking at your speed and rpm, you'll know if you're about to execute the dreaded gear jam  ... when you pull the clutch and jerk your toe against the lever that don't move requiring you to release the clutch at the same rpm and engine note much to the embarassment of your fellow riders and all cagers who all know you just tried to upshift when you were out of gears.

You'll soon reduce your desire for another farkle to help your aging attention span which seems to become shorter and shorter as the weather gets warmer I like wearing shorts.... what was I typing about? :noidea:
