I recently had a new set of tires installed on my 07 VFR prior to going on a 4 day trip around the Cabot Trail. I noticed once on the road that there was a vibration in the handlebars which became very noticeable around 120km/hr/75 mph. When I got home I took the bike back to the dealer that installed the tires and they re-balanced the front tire. The mechanic said it was out a little bit. I took it for a 30 min ride and the vibration is still there. I just came inside after checking the tire pressure and its a little low. Current pressure is 35psi and tire calls for 42psi. I'm in the process of adjusting the pressure although I don't think this will fix the issue. Does anyone out there have any other suggestions? Should I take it somewhere else and have it checked again? Is the tire the issue or something else? Any help would be appreciated.

It's a little soon for steering head bearings or fork seals(you could check for leaks on the seals just in case) so it is probably tire related. Since the tire is brand new, you probably won't see the imperfection. If the shake is still there, request a replacement tire and see what happens.

You may have the front wheel bearing checked while you are at it.

    Good luck.

I think its definitely a tire issue. Everything was fine until the new tires were installed. I check into seeing if the company I bought the tire from will replace it.

There is only so much that you can do in a situation like this, and most of it has already been suggested. I dont know how inclined you are to working on your bike, but if you feel ambitious, I might do the following; With the bike on the center stand try and jack the front end of the bike so the front wheel is off the ground.Spin the front wheel by hand,
if you cant get the front wheel to spin freely remove the calipers. Spin the wheel and look for any inconsistencies, check the wheel and tire seperately for run out, both side to side and top to bottom; aka; concentricity, see if any thing can be determined. This is
really something for a trained eye,but dosent hurt to give it a shot. Also while the tire is off the ground, check for any looseness in the wheel bearings. The above may just become a learning experience, however it dosent hurt to get familiar with your bike.
When its all said and done, the tire will most likely be the culprit, but it dosent hurt to let the shop, that you are dealing with, know that you are capable of checking into this sort of problem. It will let them know that they are not dealing with some" pretty boy" who is afraid to get his hands dirty! eddie

The tires are Shinkos. Bought them on ebay...$150 for the set, so I can't complain too much!

ANY decent shop would have checked his wheel bearings when they mounted the tyres.

It's easy enough to thrust an eager finger into a hole and twirl it around.......eh, gentlemen??

most shops just flop tires for a buck these days. Anything more=more.
