OK, I've been on here a while, and I've been reading all this stuff; so now I've got my list of mods I want to do to my Viffer, and my question is, how much weight do you think I can cut and how many ponies do you think I can add when it's all done? (I know some of this has nothing to do with either (e.g. radios), but they're on my list...)

You can select more than one choice in the poll, please only one weight and one HP selection to keep things making sense.

    List:
    1. $.99 cent Radio Shack O2 bypass
    2. K&N oil filter & Repsol 10W-40 4T Synthetic motorcycle oil
    3. K&N air filter
    4. PAIR valve block-off plates and removal
    5. Competition Werkes Fender Eliminator
    6. Simpson Detour Rear Hugger
    7. Hyperlites LED’s
    8. DID 530VM X-ring chain and steel sprockets - +2 rear
    9. Radio/intercoms
    10. Zero Gravity Double-Bubble windscreen
    11. HealTech SpeedoHealer & Gear selection meter
    12. Heli bars
    13. Corbin seat w/backrest
    14. Pirelli Diablo Strada tires
    15. Motad headers w/o cat
    16. Devil Magnum carbon or shinny slip-ons
    17. Power Commander PC3 USB (dyno mapped)
    18. Ohlins springs (RaceTech valves?) & rear shock
    19. Custom paint changes (fr. fender & rims)
    20. CARROZZERIA custom wheels

You will be able to lose some weight thats for sure. Most of it will come from dropping the original exhaust and changing out those rims. Don't expect too much in HP gain though. 10HP is very optimistic from everything I have read. However a lot of people report that everything becomes a lot more smooth throughout everything

Maybe I should have made them increments of 5 (i.e. 5, 10, 15) for both?

wow gonna dump alot of cash into it...the hp gains are not going to be more then 15 without porting the heads or boring it .60 over. NCB I believe was working on finding a custom grind for the v-tech cams(check out his bike awesome!) all in all alot of money for little power gains. The suspension and wheel mods might be the way to go.. weight maybe 15lbs.slick 50 is not on your list I am very surprised about that and goning to 5-30 oil will give .00456 hp gain over the 10-40.. remember this a sport touring bike so it does everything great but is not a dragbike or a roadracer or goldwing tourer. I love my vfr and hope I don't have some goof tell my about her other bikes but that is why i bought it becuase it does everything great.....hope this helped..

I love mine too, and I'm not trying to turn her into something she's not, just "accentuate the curves of my lovely lady with some fine accessories".

I'm likely gonna get a Connie for 'touring' and am thinking about an RSV4 for hard riding; but, the VFR will still be my favorite girl, so I just wanna spend a little money on her to dress her up, and show her a good time...

well youve gotten the most significant and easiest weight savings out of the way, the header and slip-on. there is still a little more for you to eek out though. if you ditch the evap canister youll lose a few pounds and filter changes will be easier too. also those passenger handles are suprisingly heavy. you can ditch those and go with the caps off of bikebandit.com for like 8 bucks a piece. they come painted and everything. just dont expect your passengers to be to happy about them... lol
im sure theres a lot of things im missing though. passenger pegs, center stand, snorkel, flapper, etc...
    good luck!

I agree that taking off weight is easier, cheaper and more effective. In addition to the suggested change in exhaust, I also removed the passenger footu pegs, passenger grab bar and helmet and seat lock. Doesnt sound like much, but when you hold them all together it definately feels like several pounds. Also FOR ME, I started riding a bicycle regularly and lost 10 pounds. That makes a lot of difference. Let us know what you come up with

DUDE!!!! I've been saying that for years, all these people spending all that money to save grams (especially with bicycles which is supposed to be exercise)
and doing nothing to reduce rider weight! WTF!!!
And dont get me started about carbon fibre stickers.

I don't know if it was this forum or VFRD but someone did a comparison of seats-Sargent,Stock,Corbin.If I remember correctly, they said the Corbin outweighed the others by several pounds and in their opinion was not comfortable. Then you add the weight of the backrest. It sounds like you could save hundreds of dollars by buying the lighter seat than all the lightweight do-dad add-ons.

Yeah, the issue is the pillion wants the backrest, and they stopped making them for 6th gen on the Sargent. I agree with what you're saying, but sometimes it's easier to just make the pillion happy...

You kidding? If I could get my lazy ass off the couch and loose like 80 lbs, I'd be a whole new person, and could really enjoy a full on race-replica... That would require getting off the couch though...

Well...I have lost right around 30 lbs since this time last year, and my bike has lost at least 15 pounds since this time last year. Haven't gained any HP, me or the bike...yet anyway.
As far as the CF Stickers go...don't have any of those yet, but I do have a genuine CF Front fender. I was thinking about doing the slick-50 mod as well as helium in the tires to lose a few more pounds, and have also been considering adding some moonshine to the fuel to gain a few more HP...what do the masses say???

i cant wait to see the comment of the first person who actually takes you serious... lol

but congrats on the weight loss, its tough work, i know. ive been hitting the gym everyday after i get off work. ive probably lost about five or ten pounds of fat already. but, i havent noticed it effecting bike performance, because ive put on about 25 or 30lbs of muscle in the process. lol

I know this thread is about power and weight but, Candy have you noticed a heat reduction with the header wrap? Also, how do you like the ST windscreen? And, could you hook me up with your dealer ;)?

For my bike, the weight loss came courtesy of the RC-51 tail swap, saved 15 pounds there alone. As for me, the weight loss has come from running, and watching my portion size, as well as what I am eating. I'm not necessarily trying to gain muscle mass, but increase my cardio endurance. Some muscle for me would be good, but not a primary goal. I still have about 5 pounds around my gut that I want to lose, and hopefully next year my VFR will be getting the big bore conversion to get an additional 30 HP, so it'll be good all the way around!!!
