The explanation I got was that since they were a newly minted dealer for Sargent, they did not have any seats in stock. There was also miscommunication where they were made to believe that the seats can be shipped in 5 working days instead of 5 weeks. It didn't help that the group buy came together so fast due to a lot of interested people, which caught everyone off guard.

I will take some of the responsibility for the delay, I should have done a my homework so I could have relayed to everyone that this venture was going to take at least 5 weeks if not longer.

A typical action plan at my work is "hurry up and wait"..........I should be used to it but all this waiting is making me irritable.

I sent them an email yesterday and their reply is that they are still waiting for the product and as soon as they get an update they will let me know.

Arent these like $300+ seat's? Whats so good about them to make them worth soo much? Besides the fact the OEM seats are fat as hell i don't see $300+ worth of improvements that can be done. I never sat on a aftermarket seat on a VFR so damn if i know the difference.

Yep, I'll be the first to admit your gonna get your seat before us... I will say though that there's some satisfaction in participating in a group buy. Kinda the next best thing to a group ride. We've also built up a rapport with this dealer for ALL of VFRW to enjoy in the future. Some times ya gotta take one for the team.

First off they look $300 better than the originals and most would say that they'll add another 300-500miles to your day. Not all seats are for everyone's butts but after the last longish ride that we did, I know I need to at least try to find a more comfortable option. I don't think you should buy one though...

I think that the worth of the $300+ for a new seat depends on each individual. For some the stock seat is perfect... and I'll admit that it is pretty comfy. For those that don't do a lot of riding or do mostly short rides, it probably isn't worth the money. However there are some of us that the stock seat just doesn't cut it. Even a short ride makes the butt sore, some of us enjoy longer rides, or then there are others similar to me that are putting 500+miles on a week very frequently. When you do a lot of traveling on the bike, more comfort can bring more energy at the end the day or more miles on a day where you are trying to push.

$300 for something that looks a lot better, feels a lot better, and is going to last forever is more than worth it to me, especially since I plan on keeping the VFR very long term. But then again that is all in the eye of the beholder. Many say the same about Heli-bars, redoing the forks/shock, or windscreen. How about the $1000+ for OEM Honda bags that everyone forks out? It all just depends on what you do and what you want to do with your bike.

And for the record.... I'm still eagerly awaiting my seat from the group buy as well and I'm more than happy to wait a little bit longer. We've helped out a new Sargent partner, built a reputation with them here, and many people here have found a new place to shop through the group buy as well.

I've got the patience to wait for it as I'm not desperate for it, but just consider it and eagerly anticipated addon for the bike.

I got my email on the 7th of July. 5 weeks from that date would be around mid month so still a bit to go I think. I think Bikers Den should be getting them shortly within the next few days. Then hopefully we'll get an email stating that they have been shipped.

WOOHOO!!! That means they should be here sometime in the middle of the next week.

On a side note, I wonder why I haven't received either of the last two emails fromthem that they sent out for updates. Thanks for posting what you guys are getting.... it keeps me in the loop!

Excellent news. My tush is welcoming the new seat.

I have to say though, the could have provided better communication throughout this.
