lowered bike in rear .75in. how much should i lower the front forks?

    Need to lower the front forks and now the stock measuerement is 39mm i believe. how much should i raise the forks to compensate for the rear change. i lowered the rear by flipping the triangle brackets. I dont want to dive into corners or the obvious injure myself. Nver lowered a bike before.

    How does it feel right now? Have you already got the adjustment done? I'm still trying to figure out where to put mine since I changed the rear shock and put stiffer springs in the front. I can't decide on leaving it alone or trying to make it feel even better...

    Well I would say drop them about 5mm to help get back some of the geometry that you lost. I would then set up your sag setting to around 35mm and take it for a ride. Should be ok but if turn in still feels hard drop another 5mm.

    seems alright may adjust the rear

    I may adjust the rear it seems a little soft. setting is on 2 i may go up to 3 or 4 or just adjust the dampner on the rear. as far as the way it turns its great. it seems a little bumpy in the rear at slow speeds on side streets but not to bad on open road. Wonder if i should have just bought a dogbone or a custom sargeant seat since they make the inseam to ur liking.

    I did the triangle flip on my 6th generation which gave me 1/2 inch drop on the rear. I raised the tubes the same 1/2 inch, to drop the front, and am very pleased with the results. I cannot tell any difference in cornering than prior to the mod.

    I flipped the triangles on my 2007 and achieved a 20mm drop in the rear. I matched 20mm in the front and it sucked bad. 10 mm seems really good for me. I didn't touch anything else. 140 lb rider. I think it compensated for the triangle flip plus a little something to make it turn in easier. Turning is effortless and stable on the straights.

    can someone maybe post a picture of the flipped bracket on a 5th gen? I am wondering if mine has been flipped, as the bike seems to be lower than the other 5th gen who parks near me at work.

    I have a 6th gen. The triangles on mine have an arrow that is supposed to point toward the front of the bike. If it is pointing up and towards the tailight it has been done already.

    The left one is original orientation. The right one is the lowered orientation. Make sure both triangles are pointing in the same direction!

    lowering front forks

    Hey I need a little help with the front fork issue....

    I am wanting to flip the triangle on the rear, but I am not sure how to change or lower the front forks..

    Any help would be great

    easy just make sure measurements are the same

    u loosen the lower triple tree bolt and then the upper bolt and spin by hand the strut (chrome). u have to loosen the handle bar clamp too i believe.:smile:

    Here you go....keep in mind that in this mod, a lowering link was used as opposed to flipping the triangles but the procedure for the forks will be the same. Bar risers was also used but some that have done this mod have not used them.
