 Even though it was almost all slab it was a great day. Left Lexington, MA at 0600 and got to Canada at 1100. Stayed for an hour (they actually let me in with just a drivers license and military ID) then rolled out. The US Customs guy was a retired Navy Chief so us Navy guys had to shoot the shit for a few minutes. All in all a great ride on the VFR. I've only owned it for a month and a half but have put on about 3500 miles including the 551 miles today. What a great bike! Next time I have to stay off the highways and hit some back roads. Anyway, just thought I'd brag. Oh, and that was on the stock seat, the best stock seat I've ever had but it will be replaced someday.
Nice eh?? You might find, the longer you go, the better it will get. My best day so far is 2300km , and i have done it a few times, and every time I get off i marvel how nothing hurts!!Same with the week long runs.. And it isnt me as I have had a few real torture instruments over the last few years! I just find I need 2-3 hrs to get into the mood and I can go forever on this bike as it lets me move around a lot.as in sit up, lean and let the wind hold me at speed, and i can lay on the tank for hrs on end when my arse starts to get a bit sore and at my age I am amazed it feels soo good! those bikes I had with bucket type seats that stuck me in one place nearly did me in..And after fiddlin with the couple vfr's i had, I have gone back to dead stock and will never touch it again..save your $$ for gas... enjoy!!!
It was "suppossed" to have changed in 2008. The military was telling all service members they needed to purchase passports for themselves and their family members. Sorry, I'm not shelling out that kind of money for something I may use once I said. Who knows. I only went to Canada for a quick pic and to say I did it. Mission accomplished.
