Hi everyone. I crashed my 2008 VFR two weeks ago, today. From what we can figure out, the bike flipped - rear over front - landing upside down on the left fron fairing/windscreen and on the rear grab rail. I'm ready to order a pile of parts from Service Honda. Just wondering if there are any other sources with similar prices or any reputable salvage yards. There are a couple of salvage companies on ebay. Does anyone have experience with the ebay vendors. I saw in the classifieds that a member is selling the same year/color parts I need. Among the numeruos parts I need, some of the parts are:

    front cowl,
    left headlight and turn signal,
    left fairing the rear cowl,
    left grab rail,
    left handle bar,
    left clutch lever,
left mount for driver's foot peg,
left radiator, mounts and possibly the fan/shroud/motor assembly, and
    possibly the oil cooler and left oir cooler lines;

I've already ordered the cowl stay and seat rails from Service Honda.

As for me, I broke my left collar bone, left shoulder blade, top three ribs, fractured the sternum and bruised my left lung. I've been stripping the bike 15 minutes at a time with my right arm. Of course, I', determined to get he girl back together and gete back on the saddle asap. THanks for any help!

dude major bummer, atleast your able to still get around after a spill like that...some ebay vendors are very good quick shipping and good part then there are the few that have no idea what they are selling and dont ship it out quickly it varies..good luck with it and heal up

Another crash, jesus, now I'm afraid of going for a ride in the fears of posting a "Yep, another VFR bites the dust" thread.

I'm glad to see though you're toughing it out and getting ready for the saddle again!

Holy cow glad you're ok. You are hardcore for wanting to jump right back into the riding scene. That's hilarious that you are tinkering with your bike so soon after suffering such a terrible crash. I hurt my back a couple of weeks ago to the point that I almost couldn't walk but somehow I managed to end up working in the garage on my bike for hours while in pain. Out of curiousity what happened that caused you to crash? How long have you been riding? I assume you geared up when you crashed?

    Regards,
    Rollin

Sorry to hear of another crash. Nola, good luck on the rest of your recovery.

Everyone else, keep some in reserve folks! The streets have so many things that can jump up and bite ya! You don't have to ride it like ya stole it, cuz you already own it. Keep it shiny.

Actually, shouldent you be riding like you stole it?

Id feel pretty dumb to steel a car, then get pulled over for going 5 over the speed limit?

Wow, almost as many broken parts on you, as there is on the bike. That really sucks. Heal well.

The rest of you better get your demon bells installed, STAT.

    Left Clutch lever??????

Left Clutch lever? is there a right clutch lever? LOL.
Joe I told you I had an extra Clutch lever that you could
have. I meant it. Let's get that girl going again. If you want some help
just call me and I can come over and lend a left hand since you are out
of one. Just pulling your chain, man. But I would be glad to come over and help.
    you have my number.

    Hi Rollin.

I had to show my wife your post. Continued working in pain? I get it. Now my wife sees that I'm not the only one!

After 20+ years of riding and safety courses (the most recent advanced course being this past summer), a blind left hander got me. It was my first bad spill (cause I've knocked bikes over in the garage before).

I was geared from head to toe - Scorpion EXO 400, Joe Rocket mesh jacked and pants with the CE armor in the usual places, and TCX boots. So I had no rash - just broken bones.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone! I'm going to check out the posted sites and start making orders soon.

    D A N I M A L!!!!!!!! :->

I forgot about the clutch lever! THANKS! AND, ya' got me... Guess I had "left" on the brain when I was listing parts. I'll give you a call when I start putting the new seat rails and cowl stay back on. I bought the 3/8 torque wrench (I've been meaning to get one anyway) and I already have the 1/2 inch torque wrench. I expect to place the orders for the bulk of the parts I need by Wednesday.

The quick positive responses I received clearly demonstrate how this site is steps above other enthusiasts sites on the net. Thanks.

Thanks for the good wishes. After two weeks, I'm able to move around without a sling. The bulk of the problem now is that the muscles are not cooperating to move my are from the shoulder. Everything from the elbow down works great. The muscles are still pretty deeply bruised with some bruising just appearing on the skin between 10 and 14 days after the crash (and I call it a crash rather than the softer "I laid it down" cause it is a crash).

I was actually farthest from "riding like I stole it." It was more like "Driving Ms. Daisey." A slow, reserved pace...

I like the idea of keeping it shiny.

Friggin' right that was a crash, Nola!
    You're one tough nut, hey?
People mention that VFR owners can be fanatical, now they can start talking about how resilient and driven they are ;)
Sorry you're in pain but glad you've started right into mending the rig.
