Very nice. :) I stared at the pretty bike for about 3 minutes checking it out before I noticed you were on it.

Shit... I was supposed to say that the other way around. :p

I think everyone here is missing the very obvious thing once it is all put together. Dead catalytic converter. Excess heat? Check. Rattle? Check. Go fire your bike up and let it run in your garage for a few minutes till it is warmed up. Smell the exhaust. If you have a somewhat rotten egg smell.... We've got a winner here.

Can you hear the rattle if you rev it up while its sitting there? Have a friend lend you a hand if so... have them rev it while you crawl around listening for it. If you hear it in the block it is probably the CCT. Listen near the cat and if it is there you have a bad cat.

Just my two cents. Spend it however you wish. :)

Always nice to see a great looking lady on a VFR! Thanks for posting and I hope you get your bike fixed up so it's not making any more strange noises.

Thank you Meatloaf. I'll communicate your input to Will so he might double check that too!
Regarding the smell that would be hard to do because I just put the nasty smelly (but healthy?) chain wax. So it stinks right now!
    More news next week!

I'm a new member, just reading about the ticking noise problem. I just bought mine(after 7 yrs of saving up). Took it to the dealer for a tick intermittent at idle and a rough running engine under 3000RPM. The "Head" tech at the Honda Stealership left the lot on one wheel, classy. Then told me to DRIVE it and stop driving under 3000rpm. So these are pretty rare around my area, comparing to another vfr impossible. Some noises will be normal? Love the bike.

Right, but I don't do it for the look, but instead simply because it just feels great!

Not that young... 40... I know I know but I only do it around my hometown. Sure accidents happen close by your home, but hey life needs to be fun!

    Hello Someguy,
So here is the scoop... Makes me feel really dorky (if I needed that).
The noise wasn't coming from the exhaust, nor the CCT or anything inside the engine. BUT simply from a loose chain! YES the chain, the big chain that rolls the wheel. Will first tried to shorten it, then said there was a kink told me someone must have tried to do that before (not rue, Honda are the only ones working on my bike). Anyway, he finally replaced the chain with a new one and the noise is totally gone. I can't believe I did not see it: I put the "wax-chain" a week ago and did not see the slack, pretty bad!
Now what I don't understand is why the chain get loose that fast. It was replaced about a year ago, about 10Kmiles ago...
Anyway, troubleshooting + replacing one burned out bulb (lowbeam light) + new chain = $350... But now a safe and smooth riding bike!
I had such a great ride home knowing it's now 100% operational, I love my bike!
Finally regarding the "hot legs" issue I guess I'll have to deal with it!
Again guys, a big "mahalo" (Thank you in Hawaiian) for all your precious help!
    Aloha, Zoum-Zoum

it is my personal opinion that you should probably post up a pic of yourself in a bikini on that fine VFR...of course that might take two glasses of wine haha.

hey! i'm really glad to hear it was something simple,
i have to admit, i totally didn't see that coming...
would like to think i would have cought it in person...
    at any rate,
    glad the problem is solved.

ignore the folks who are giving you hell about riding in shorts...
while i agree with them, that you are taking a huge risk, particularly for those nice legs, it's your bike, your legs, and your life. enjoy it.

have an awesome evening, and keep us posted if anything new pops up!

more pics would be great, if you get around to it...
always nice to see a great chick on a great bike...

If you are going through chains that quick while performing proper maintenance on it... maybe you have a bad sprocket? Just something I would check into. Sounds like you have a good mechanic and he would have caught that but you never know.

Its not uncommon to go through chains about every 10k, if you are riding hard all of the time or not maintaining it. However you should get at least 15k out of one through normal riding and proper maintenance.

The same can be said about not wearing a condom, which is just before they become parents.

    Enjoy the road rash.

This thread contains the best and the worst of VFRW.

Members rush to help a fellow VFRW member with a bike issue which is awesome.

Said member with a bike problem admits to not wearing gear. Instead of chastising said member, because she is an attractive women, there is forgiveness or just flat out ignoring the issue. Meanwhile, a thread has started busting on PyroMcNoob about his gear choice.

George Carlin nailed it: “Folks, we don’t need the double standard because one standard is enough”.

A rider is a rider regardless of their reproductive organs. Just an FYI in case you all missed the memo.
