More on the pipes.... I was noticing that with the bags on, that the exhaust is directed right at the bag......

Long is absolutely right. That exhaust can is seriously hideous looking. Otherwise, a nice looking ride. Think I'll stick with my 6G for a while, though.

Much better looking in these photos; If I had not just bought a new CBR1000RR (keeping the VFR) I would buy one.

The tank is only 18.5 liters (4.88 gallons), I think my 5th gen hold like 5.2! That bike must be very fuel efficient!

I think I can see a VFR under there. I notice they took cues from after market seats and bar risers. HMMMMM...1237 cc, 150 hp, 580 lbs wet vs 798 cc, 96 hp(or so), 550 lbs

    Bring on the road tests.

    OK, I finally believe it.

I LOVE IT! I'm worried about the cost.... I LOVE IT! can't wait to ride one.

The new exhaust is different but...I like it... doesn't the new configuration offer performance improvements over traditional exhaust? So therefore aesthetics be damn..?

fugly fugly flugy.....not a flowing line on the thing. Looks like a cobbled bunch of parts thrown together. The blackish plastic panels around the engine and blacked out frame - embarrassing... yucko... I can see Soichiro Honda rolling in the grave.....

The only thing this has in common with a VFR is the name. The motor isn't even a 90-degree V-4. Fugly, will probably sell as well as the CBR1000RR.

Aprilia will get my money if I buy a new V-4.

Gotta admit, the more pictures I see, the more it grows on me.

When you look at it as a new (replacement) ST, it's great.
As a new VFR, still not sure...

    as Honda says... "it's a sport-tour bike...not a V4 Superbike..."

I still can't wait to see one...the cost is going to be scary however

    Engine/Drivetrain

    - Light and compact 1237cc liquid-cooled 76-degree V-4 pumps out amazing levels of power with a distinctive V-4 feel and sound.

    - Symmetrically Coupled Phase-shift Crankshaft uses 28-degree crankpin offset to eliminate primary engine vibration.

    - Asymmetrical exhaust lengths between front and rear cylinders boost power production and enhance power feel.

    - Lightweight and compact UnicamĀ® valvetrain allows for significantly smaller cylinder heads.

As I stated in another thread:

Good men must die, but death cannot kill their names.

    --Proverb

I find all this whining about weight interesting; they went from an 800 to a 1200 and only gained 51 lbs., yet added roughly 65HP to compensate and almost double the torque... Where's the complaints in that?

As for the model letters, VFR means Vee-Four Race derived as far as I remember; does that describe this bike? Yes. The R didn't stand for Race-replica (that's the RR at the end of the CBR line). You want that, you got an RVF, not a VFR... Additionally, don't 'hearken back to the golden days' of the RC30, RC45 or NR750 and say "See, this ain't no VFR!"; how long ago were those bikes? And they weren't VFR's anyway, they were RVF's (or NR's). From the current 6th Gen to this new 7th Gen, I think everything is a logical progression. Was the 6th Gen a great 'track bike'? No.

Is that 'progression' what everyone wants? No. Can you please all the people, all the time? No. If they do base additional bikes on this new platform, could they make a new "RVF" version? Yes. Would that make all you weekend racers happy? Yes. Would it make the ST crowd happy? No. But this ain't no VFR1200T either.

Suck it up, the 7th Gen is the logical progression of the 'Jack of all trades' 6th Gen. Maybe later they'll make a different model for you if you don't like it...
