I see the passion you have for your bike. The guys over at the Aprilia forums are the same way but those bikes aren't selling either. You can get a 0 mi two year old bike at any dealer around. I liked the looks of the old one but I like this one too. Cruisers and big displacement is what's selling.

From what I've heard, heated grips are not necessary if a bike has grip shields to keep the wind off of one's hands.

Maybe down your way but up here in Canada I have often wished for heated grips. Likewise in Europe I suspect.

Overall I like the new package but think it is more an ST1300 replacement, which I also quite like. Not to happy about the engine displacement due to high insurance costs nor the absence of traction control on a bike with that much power and torque but will need to see what it feels like before I make a final judgement. Mostly it has addressed my issues with the the gen 6 but I am more of a sport TOUR type. Will I buy one, probably not as I have my gen 6 pretty much set up the way I like, but I am interested enough to have a closer look when they hit the stores.

I live in South Texas and ride year-round and use the heated grips on my GSXR 750 often.

It appears there will also be a ST1300 replacment utilizing the new V4 1200 motor...I think you will also see Honda using this motor in a naked streetfighter, cruiser, an adventure-tourer (ala BMW GS) and maybe even a big displacement sport bike...
    Time will tell...
