What irks you most that drivers, or fellow riders do?

For me it's following me too close. Whether it's a car or another bike. Some squid who squeezes in the group and splits the lanes, or bikes, and pulls right up your hind end.

My luck would be that I manage to outride the crazy unforseen obstacle in front of me with the most amazing move I've ever pulled off, truly worthy of inclusion in a James Bond film, only to be demolished by some dork yacking on his cell phone.

Just curious, since they always seem to happen when the cops are not around to stop them when it happens. Maybe I can get you some payback in the form of target enforcement of those most bothersome dangerous moves for us bikers.

For me it depends on what I am driving...

In my old CRX it was pulling out in front of me, which bothers me still but it was much worse in that because it wasn't meant for breaking.

On my old VFR it would be crossing the double yellow.

Now in my BMW its hit and run. I always park as far away from other people yet somehow I always come home with dings from doors.

I do have a long list of things people do that irk me. Not a traffic violation but when you are about to go by someone in the other lane and as you get close they start to match your speed. Just yesterday some woman (of course) started doing this. Since nobody else was around and I wanted to see how far she'd go, I turned off my cruise control and started slowing down and speeding up. Sure enough she kept at my pace never letting me get beside her.

Following too close is another big annoyance to me as well.

Sounds like following too close is the mission of the night. I'll keep my eye out for failure to yield to approaching vehicle(that's when they pull out in front of you), and failure to maintain lane violations.

Also Shorty, it is a violation in our state when they don't let you pass them. It's called speed racing, and the ticket is $472. Youchy! When you park your BMW, put it where the cameras are, and we can get the tapes from security if you get a big door ding.

    good looking out brother!
one of the ones i hate the most is when someone is going slow, so you pass them. then after you pass them, suddenly they have somewhere important to go. they hit their highbeams and then tailgate you till they get where theyre going.
pretty much gives you no choice but to speed and pass a couple more cars, until they're out of sight.

For me, it's failure to yield, especially fucking idiots pulling right out then acting like I'm still not there (139db air horn blasting, lights on full) and/or they did nothing wrong. Just tonight, I'm going through one intersection turning left when one fucking idiot in the opposite lane pulled around a car stopped at the light, swung wide into my lane (with nothing in their lane) and forced me to cut hard into the lane to my left. If there's been a car there I would have had nowhere to go except into the idiot. Even when I was alongside (far too close thanks to her) blasting my horn, she kept her head forward like it was in a halo brace. I can't wait till I get my new gloves so I can have more options for venting than lights and noise...

PS: CandyRedRC46, it's for the tailgaters like you describe that I'm rethinking my on-board egg basket...

Ehhh. If you're a motorcyclist in California you double yellow people A LOT. Some fucktards don't notice that they're holding up 12 riders, 5 cars and an 18 wheeler and will STILL blow pass turnout after turnout.

Or even sometimes if I'm solo I'll preemptively double yellow them while I have to chance before blind turns come up.

You can't go for a day of twisties here without double yellowing cagers (sometimes Harleys with tools riding), it's just a part of battle here.

Some are smart and even if there's no shoulder they'll pull over far enough that you've got a a good margin to swing by them as long as you aren't twiddling your thumbs as you do it. I don't mind MCs double yellowing me in a car SO LONG as there's no upcoming intersections that I might need to turn in to.

The solution for this on my bike is to take the fast lane and have a mirror hanging over into the adjacent lane. People think twice about driving adjacent to you. Obviously you don't want to pass people in adjacent lanes in this position or be passed, but so long as no ones next to you it puts you in a position of greatest ability for you to see and be seen, you just need to pay some more attention to your blind spots and what's going on two lanes over to your right.

what violaton I hate is when someone is recieving oral gratification and doesn't ahve the cruise control on. the swerving is bad enough. but the swift change in speed is enought to drive a person crazy......... OH yeah the other one is tailgating

Cyborg. I love the drawing, very descriptive! Your analogy of them wearing a halo brace was fantastic. Made me laugh. I don't understand the gloves. Do they fire rockets, or light up the middle finger, or what?

My friend relayed the following story to me about his tailgater experience:

See when I stop, if there's an interestingly shaped or colored rock, I put it in my side pouch on my tank bag. That's where I keep my pen. If I need to jot down a quick note, I just unzip it and grab my pen.

One time, there was a guy in a truck tailgating me. He was flashing his high beams and riding my backside, so I pulled into the slow lane. I thought maybe I've got something falling off, or a tire going down, so I moved over and he went around me. Then he pulled into the slow lane and stomped on his brakes. I went around him to put him safely behind me. He sped up, weird.

The tailgater stayed behind me flashing his lights. When I tried to jot down his license plate with my pen, he slowed way down and I didn't see him again. I never did get his license plate. Aww, shucks!

When I got home, I noticed some of my rocks were missing. I was all torn up about losing those rocks. They were little momentos of my travels. Darn those big gloves, I just can't feel very much with those on.

Now, don't everyone go and try that and say I said that it's ok.

If they can do it while riding, I say let 'em. They must have open face helmets, or something, huh? Very flexible.

Entry, you must be thinking about the Tony Stark version of the TiMax gloves, which do come with repulsors but Blue Cross will not cover the required Arc Reactor surgery and comes only in red that would not go with my black and silver gear. The new gloves are better armored than the Alpinestar Octane B-Motos I currently wear so if I accidentally hit a Fucking idiot's side mirror with my fist--eh, hand, the wrist titanium plate should prevent injury...

Man, don't you just hate it when those things get lost?

Thats my personal favorite traffic violation, and I try to always have the cruise control on, problem is I keep stretching those legs out and go faster and faster and faster and faster... until....well, you get the idea.

But then as a motorcyclist, I'm always breaking some kind of speed limit.

No use of turn signal, especially in tight traffic. AAARRRGGGG!!!!

Tail gate-ing and riding at the speed limit or under in the passing lane gets Bubba Zanetti pretty pissed too.

slow people in the passing lane. We have state laws theat are supposed to stop that, but, well, some police are just too lazy. Driving in incliment weather w/o headlights on - which is also a ticketable offence. People that drift lanes. People that pull out in front of you to go...10 MPH under the speed limit. People driving phone booths that don't pay attention, and drift, pull out in front of others, go slow, don't yeild to others. Don't get too many tailgaters here, not really enough traffic and I have been known to break check a few.
