The couple times my front wheel has left the ground it was purely by accident during hard acceleration, and it was only a couple inches if that. I never learned how to wheelie and honestly just don't feel the need. Yes, they look cool, but it's just not for me.

I have no problems with streetbikes doing wheelies on streets/parking lots devoid of traffic and pedestrians - and if the riders are geared-up. Have at it and have fun!

    Pliskin,
Sorry all I saw was the "calamari" and thought WOW I cant believe that! I was just saying that the power of the VFR "is" as good as a naked made for holaganism. I have never done a full stand-up and hold it wheelie either because I do respect it and honestly I am afraid of
hurting myself and my ride....but some of the safety freeks here are just that FREEKS!!! It's hard to believe they ride motorcycles at all and they are so quick to judge what is actually very innocent. How do you FREEKS know that I was not in the deserted parking lot my own business!

Perhaps they ride VFR Trikes (is there such a thing?), or maybe they have training wheels on each side. Or they might be the guys you see trailering their bikes everywhere they go instead of riding them. I don't know. To each his own I guess.

It should be noted vfrs are not great wheelie bikes. i have done some pretty good standups, but the balance point is so narrow given how the engine sits that they are always a little scary. i get on my friends gixxer 600 and they are a piece of cake. but thats not why i own the vfr-i wanted a all around superbike that i can ride a hundred miles a day with and enjoy!!
I am more into moto gp and the riding as a way of life then just "i want a crotch rocket so i can look cool" attitude that sends 18 year olds to the hospital every spring..

I would like to pick up a cheap f4i to make a streetfighter/stuntbike out of though....im young, i can fall a few times......

I had no idea you could wheelie a VFR.

I have lifted the front wheel a bit going into second gear many times. First time it did that I was surprised!

Good point. Some riders who bash wheelie guys probably risk more themselves in other ways, so let's not be hypocritical.

Example: When I hit the twisties at a 7/10ths clip for a few hours, I'm probably way more at risk than you doing a short wheelie once in awhile. Some would say I'm the more reckless rider.

In my view it's got nothing to do with safety and everything to do with respect of my ride. I would not drain my oil and go for a ride, wheelies approach that same sort of stupidity(IMO).

Now dirt bikes are a whole different deal! I would wheelie the heck out of a dirtbike.

Hey I like stunt shows but I am not a stunter. I like wheelies but do not want to damage my VFR. I may try to get a KLR for some hooligan and wheelie fun. If you like doing wheelies and stunts get a used 600 or dirtbike. That way you can keep your VFR in good condition and use the lil 600 for stunts and stuff - I still think a dirt bike may be more fun but that is just me.

I bought my bike to have fun with, and I intend to do just that. Wheelies are one of the parts that I file under the heading of "fun". In the "not fun" category I have cruising down the highway and riding around with no destination - so I don't do those things.

    Wheelies - YES!
