    Ok,

I know that there is a modifications forum, but I think this question is better asked here. I have a Gen 5 and there is a button plug on the clutch module that I'd love to use for a "Flash to Pass" button. Can this be done and is there a Honda switch that can be installed in this location?

The Hyabusa crowd can't get all the flash to pass action

    Apparently the UK/EUR bikes

have this feature. I found a pic of a guy's Gen 5 who has a flash to pass button and he is in the UK. Clearly, this is a factory thing, so now the question has become can I swap out my clutch switch block with the UK type and wire it in?

I dont have my manual handy, but I'd like to see the wiring schematic to if this flash to pass switch can be wired in.

We'll see...kinda quite here, though...assistance is always appreciated.

good find! I bet with some research the UK part # could be found. How about it guys from over the pond? Is this standard on your 5th gen bikes?

    Hi,

I'm not in 'little old London town' but 'little old Cyprus' in the Med. My 5th gen is UK spec and has the flash buttton. I'll check in my manual and see if I can post up the wiring diag.

I can also see if my Honda agent can give me the part number.

    This is the European wiring.

For some reason the uploaded files have reduced in size, and its difficult to read the diag.

The 'flash button is at the bottom l/h side of page one, in the centre of the oblong box. It has a brown/green wire coming from the speed sensor (of all things) and a blue wire going to the main beam line. I think that the blue is supply and the other just goes to earth. The flash puts the main beams on, only works with the ign on, but you don't need lights on. It will work with low beam, and puts main beams on, which really clears the cars out of the way.

    Many thanks hatzyian!

I retrofit of this switch would be huge, and I'm certain they have a part number quite handy over there. Over here I am sure that my Honda people will just tell me, "that's on the Euro models only..."

I'm feeling pretty good about this and the wiring schematics will be a great big help!

    Thanks again!

    Looks like the UK

has it all! Over here in the US there are too many motorists who have no clue what it means to have someone flash their lights so I suppose thats why we dont have them.

Great find on ebay Doc Mad!

Hokey smokes. I have owned this bike for 2 years and never realized I had that button block there. I also just noticed one on the right cluster in the space where the turn signal is on the left.
The bike and I have reached a new level of intimacy. Thank you.

When I was stationed in Germany they tried to get away from the flash to pass and was telling us to use the left turn signal to get people to move out of the way.

That was actually for the "Fusion Ray" cannon - at least that's the legend...I guess it was there in case the "Flash to Pass" feature didn't get them to move!

Why not just toggle your highbeams like a car or install a headlight modulator and make yourself more visible at the same time?

That's a great idea, and one I use from time to time. However, when I need this function the most is when I am traveling on the interstate, normally around 110 to 130 mph. I think safety is compromised when I have to reach my thumb up and over to manipulate the switch...and besides, the flash switch is just too damn cool!

I guess you're not speeding until you hit 140.
