Bittersweet Day

Well, as a few of you know around here, I’ve had a couple back/shoulder surgeries over the past two years. I’ve really been struggling with comfort on the VFR for any distance longer than 50 miles especially over this last year. I’ve tried everything comfort wise and it’s just not working.

I came to the conclusion a few months ago that I need to be honest with myself regarding the VFR and me. Bought a dual-sport and the riding position is perfect and I can almost go all day. While I didn’t want a dual sport as my main street bike this lead me down the path to bikes that sit me upright. Enter the Aprilla Tuono. Just perfect in terms of riding position for me. Add in the fact they’re blowing these out $4k under MSRP and I couldn’t pass it up. I’m picking this up on 11/14 (yeah, yeah, the blue wheels look funky to me too):



I’ll give VFRW members first dibs on my aftermarket stuff. I haven’t even begun to think of prices yet but keep an eye out soon in the sale section for: Staintune exhaust, Sargent Seat, Helibars, and a PowerCommander.

 

My DRZ

I love my DRZ but have been thinking about selling it for the same reason. I broke two vertebrae three years ago out at Prarie City and as much as I love the bike it causes me great pain to ride it for long because of the up right riding position.A little ironic we have the oposite problem.

Nice choice! Good you found something that works for you too. Tuono is a sweet ride. Hmmm, PC111 soon to be for sale? Been thinking in that direction as I have fabing a custom exhaust in mind!

 

My SV650, after mods, is still more comfortable to me than the VFR. As one of my neighbors pointed out to me years ago (he has a lot of road bikes), "If it's not comfortable, you're not going to ride it. Make it comfortable or sell it. There's lots of bikes to pick from."

You definitely need to be comfortable riding. If you are in pain, not only are you not going to enjoy the ride, you put yourself at risk. The Tuono looks great.

The Aprilla Tuono is a great bike. I would think u will be extremely happy with it !

 

Long: are you going to get rid of the VFR? Or did you want another steed for the stable?

Sorry to hear you have to move on from the VFR, but what a terrific bike to move to! CONGRATS!!

The Tuono is one of my 'dream bikes'. If I wasn't still so attached to my VFR I'd call the local Aprilia dealer to ask if they're blowing out their Tuono, too.

BTW, you might want to start setting aside some money for a speeding ticket fund. I hear the power on the Ape is too fun not to use...and is addictive to boot!

Thanks guys, definitely one of those deals where I didn't want to have to let the VFR go. I'll admit I'm getting pretty damn excited for the T though and can't wait to hit the twisties.
