Well, sit right back and you'll hear a tale
a tale of a fateful ride
It started in my cold garage
    and ended in a slide
The cold tire started spinning free
    the rider he was tossed
if not for the sturdyness of the shoei
my wits they would be lost
my wits they would be lost

The bike went down on the high side
    in front of my driveway
with scratches to all my plastics
    and both mirrors broke away
the kids they helped me pick her up
and push her back to home
and on to hospital did I moan
and on to hospital did I moan

The xrays did confirm no breaks
    just some tears and sprains
Just ice it and wear this sling a while
and deal with all the pains
My pride she is hurting most
    and typing left handed sux
And oh the costs of all the damages
I'm sure will be several bucks
I'm sure will be several bucks

thanks to Sherwood Schwartz and George Wyle for Gilligan's Island theme song.

Sorry to hear that, Reg. Glad to see you've kept your sense of humor. I think that there is extra gravity up in north county. Both times I've been down have been your side of the grade. Good luck with the recovery (especially the pride, it takes the longest to heal).

    Ah Nuts!!!

Sorry to hear you biffed Reg.:frown:

    I liked the song though.

Did you hit some sand or gravel,or was it just the cold tire that downed you?

    It could be worse.

This was my buddy's thanksgiving day (and mine).

He low-sided into a guard rail going down palomar mountain and had to be taken in an ambulance.

I saw him go down in my mirrors. All 130 pounds of me had to to get the bike off his leg and then get his boot out from being trapped between the heel plate and swingarm. Which sucked.

Luckily he only sprained both knees and ankle and he had health insurance... but he's out the bike and the 600 dollars to get it out of tow lot.

That really sucks! Far too many of us have fallen this year... Be carefull out there guys and gals and of course AGATT! Good luck with your recovery Reg, at least this happened at the end of the riding season so you have all winter to fix and make any other improvements to your steed for next spring.

okay, here's the story at least as well as I can figure... I got a race takeoff from tori and put it on my bike. He had only used it for a couple track days. Anyway, the bike hadn;t been run in a while cause I was out of town so I was just letting it warm up. I noticed the tank was low so thought I;d run up town and fill it up so the next time I went to work it'd be full. (this was on wednesday and I was supposed to be working but got called off) I headed out of the garage which was cool and across my drive which is gravel then turned onto my road which I believe Norcalboy calls chip seal (he's in that kind of business so he should know) anyway, I hit the gas and felt the rear break loose. It felt like grease then slid sideways and when the bike got into a lean from the slide, the tire grabbed and then I got high sided and went down directly on my head and right shoulder. my shoei is done. the impact was enough to knock dents into it and break off the plastic on the back. the front fairing is gouged, the right signal, the clutch cover, both mirrors and the rear fairing is scratched. I almost went out without my jacket since I was just running uptown for gas but thought I better throw on my leather Icon just in case and now there is a nice scratch along the right shoulder that could have been along my scapula and most likely would have broken the bone without that shoulderpad armor. I'll be right as rain in no time and back on a bike in less than a week I'll wager... It takes more than a little crash to slow me down for long.
