Ok, its gone just a little too far. I think it would be healthy if we all simply unsubscribe from this thread.

Im sorry NCB if I have caused you any trouble.

Don't feel bad, NCB as great mechanically as he appears has developed a long time reputation of circling around high in the Sun diving into threads all guns blazing and flying out again with those left behind puzzling what "that" was all about.

The great thing about VFRWorld is its diversity of abilities, opinions and locations. I started visiting VFRDiscussion when I first got my VFR in Jan '04 but quickly learnt it was too focused on motorcycles with anything related to an interesting thread dissappearing overnight with no explanation.

Next stop was the UK VFR site on bikersoracle fantastic mix of wild opinons and Technical help ( thanks Oddie ) for a while but had a massive meltdown on '06 where the interesting people left and the dull insular click stayed, it's still dull.

VFRWorld has been just right, good technical help mixed with general and humorous banter, please let it stay that way and not go the way of the too focused VFRDiscussion or the dull click in bikersoracle.

Joey, please show due respect to your elders. You're being unfair to a brother.

NCB is a reasonable gent and usually helps moderate flame wars, something always needed on bike fora.

I can easily understand his frustration and offense to the many stupid and pointless questions from GFR, who usually dismisses the answers anyway and asks another even MORE idiotic question.

GFR does serve a useful purpose, however, asking some questions typical of newbies who need an education.

I normally don't touch these kind of threads, but I'll make an exception here. This is the first forum I joined, and early on I was curious as to what the "protocols of behavior" were, and even posted a thread asking about it. My reason for asking was due to "severe attitude" out of nowhere by a forum member on a technical thread I had been following.

I'll avoid my long-winded style of getting to my point and be direct; for whatever reason, we are all built the way that we are. I don't care for some of the attitudes of some of the other members, and I am certain that some members don't care for mine. What are you gonna do? Every member has their value, some more often than others.

The beauty of this forum is how open it is. I've only been a member for about two years, and it has been most enjoyable to exchange technical information, as well as joke around, with so many of the other people here. I am not a "joiner" by nature, so this is a new experience for me.

Most of the time, I ignore comments people make that are inflammatory, disrespectful or mean-spirited. If I find myself in a pissy mood, I try not to respond to somebody who is equally as pissy. That's not to say that I don't wonder what the hell somebody's problem is; ultimately, it doesn't affect my life.

I see I've gotten long-winded again; old habits are hard to break. Bottom line here is that in spite of all of our differences, this is really a great forum. With regard to pointing out a specific member's way of being, well, it's not my style, but it doesn't matter to me if somebody else wants to.

    Nothing but good on NorCal,

I had been considering converting my drive system over to a 520 with several apprehensions. Making matters worse was that I could find next to zero info let alone parts, anywhere, regarding this conversion to a 6gen. NCB got involved with the thread and happily passed along two links (needed to get sprockets from two differant dist.) for the desired parts. That, with some of his technical knowlege regarding weight savings, freeing up HP etc., to the drive system, and a photo of the wear on an aluminum sprocket with 8,000 miles on it provided by Stoshmeister, sold me on making the change. I couldn't be happier with it. So thanks again NCB.

About the same as if any of us "just disappeared" Joey. Its only the interwebz brother. Please allow me to suggest that you are missing the point.

I have no interest or need to defend anyone or pick a side, everybody here wears big girl panties and can defend themselves or leave or whatever.

Gophers inanity, whether genuine or a schtick, was cute and fun for a bit, but its getting tiresome now. Since this site usually doesnt ban people for being dumb (or pretending to be dumb) the only device left is to "polish the banhammer" and convince others that responding just fuels the fire, Pretty common stuff for the webz. Since most of us are nice guys we wont say what needs to be said. Others of us lie in wait for moments when we can hammer dumbasses. Then there are those of us that love the attention no matter what form it takes.

I was very close to critical mass on Gopher myself. Ten inane threads a day was getting to be a bit much, hence my comment "What will be the end of me?" in one of his threads. Now here I am posting to a thread that is a minor flame war started because of some dumb shit Gopher posts...Sheesh..The beauty of the interwebz is the free exchange of ideas.... if your ideas suck, they dont get banned, they get hammered to death....or ignored

Which person decides to start the hammering doesnt matter much.

Ignore Gopher, lets all go for a ride and drink some beers and shots and get on with things.

If these two have it out, IMO they should be wearing panties and the match should be videotaped. Choice of colors is up to each individual since this sort of thing really should be as democratic as is possible.

I think that you have had the horseblinders on for the past year.

I agree. I have not been on here that long, but in my short time I have seen him bitch and complain about anything and everything. I think he has the "i'm always right and you are always wrong" mentality.

I guess I just do not understand why he (and others) is still on this forum when he complains so much about it? Based on his postings and comments, I think that he is generally unhappy with his life and as they say "misery loves company!"

Another person wearing rose colored glasses. Yeah, and George Bush was a peaceful fellow.

It might just be the internet, but is it right to have him bash others all day just because they are not as knowledgeable as him?

IMO this forum is great b/c of all the people here, including some that make you see red. We have technical, inane, RIP, humorous, semi-serious and WTF posts here from all kinds of folks.

If you know someone rubs you the wrong way just skip over their threads/posts. PEACE OUT, Brothers and Sisters!

I'm sure both Gopher and NCB are sitting somewhere enjoying the hell out of themselves with this bullshit.

Sorry Joey, but I've got to be on NCB's side on this one!
Gopher has got to win the prize for the most innane threads started!
(ie: When I park my bike, should I put my kickstand down, or try to find the balance point?)
NCB may post some assine replies, but to each his own. I defended Deepdish against some of the nay-sayers, but at least he didn't start worthless threads, he just threw in stupid comments!

Live and let live on this forum. I'm a member on 'both' forums and this one at least is the most 'colorful'!

Can't we all just get along?

Allow me to temporize and I'll try to post some more chiches. In the meantime if Norcalboy went South would he then be Snorcalboy?

Ahh but in your temporizations will come the point when you must both chose the opinion that you like and then show the ability to string those cliches together in a way that can be interpreted by those reading as either sensible, or take the complete non sequitur route. I have always found the latter to be the "road to ruin", but as long as I "take the high road" I will achieve the "moral high ground"

    So to speak

Awright, enough of this shit, this shit is like crack.

Or like I heard crack is like, you know.

I like it here just the way it is. I enjoy the posts I disagree with as well as those that I agree with. Each contributor has value, regardless of their demeanor or attitude. This would be one sorry ass site if everyone here thought and acted the same and agreed on everything. Let's just accept each person for who and what they are, and enjoy them for the uniqueness they bring. I learn a lot from hearing others' views on things. Makes me think and reevaluate my views.

(Do I sound like a girl?)
