Ok So I test drove a new BMW F800 at the dealer and it doesn't even compare to my 91 vfr!!

Boy was I amazed...not a good bike in my humble opinion...and it sounded like a sewing machine...

Just wondering if anyone else rode one here and their thoughts..

I test rode the F800GS and wasn't overly impressed. Really lacking power for an 800 I thought and it didn't seem much quicker than the KLR650 I had test rode earlier that same day.

The BMW dealer told me it was one of their fastest bikes...I am sure my 85 kawi GPZ would easily smoke it!
Definitely not work the 14k Canadian!!!

the only comparo on VFR and F800 I read was pretty favorable but I have never thrown a leg over one. I kind of like them, but I'm not extremely keen on BMW since I had a bad experience with a car. A friend who has one (the taxi cab bike not the f800) says he has a love/hate relationship with it. He loves it until he has to have it worked on...then he hates it.

A friend has one and we did a swap. While it has little to no torque at low rpm's, it has 'some' power higher in the rev range. Yes, it does sound like a sewing machine or 'agricultural'. My friend's has a slip-on and it sounds better, but not great. It's also expensive. Two positive things: It has a nice upright riding position and it is/feels light and handles ok. It's 'flickable'. Would I trade my '00 for it. Absolutely not.

the f800 is not even a vtwin...its a parallel twin... just a lousy design..and once you pull off the fairings the finish on the engine looks really bad...i was really dissappointed. It was an extremely cheap looking bike..

If felt light but it also felt cheap!!

A friend that works for Bombardier told me its made by bombardier/ Rotax..and not Bmw

I rode the F800 and the F800ST and really liked them. But where the rubber meets the road there is a VFR in my Garage
