I see these performance chips advertised that can increase HP up to 35 hp. Has anyone placed these chips in their car? What results have you experienced? Do they hurt the car in anyway? Do they void the warranty?

    Thanks in advance

It is my understanding these "chips" only contain a resistor that tricks the IAT into thinking it is getting a much colder air charge than it acually is. In doing so the engine gets more timing than it would if the proper temp was read. It does not sound like a good idea to me!

every time anything like this has come up, the general concensus has been that it is BS. Otherwise, everyone would have them. Honestly, I have a power commander and if I hadn't gotten it for $50 I probably wouldn't have one. I notice a little difference, especially in the mileage being worse, but I don't know that it's enough to really matter. I am prefer more smooth riding than high HP, though.
