I saw this posted on ebay and contacted the seller to let him know that his listing was incorrect before teh sale caused him or the buyer a problem. He swears that these carbs came off a 99 vfr800. I think I may have read somewhere that there are a few very early 98 model vfr800s that came carburated but I have been unable to find any information on them and this setup does not look like any of the earlier vfr carb setups but does look as if it may fit the vfr800 motor. Do any of you have any insight into this?

THose are not carbs, they are the fuel injector bodies and frame support. The seller obviously doesn't know how to spell 'fuel injector assembly'.
I don't see the injectors, they may be on the other side. It would be really underhanded if they were removed before they were sold.

after looking closer it is the underside of the throttle body assembly without the fuel rails and injectors. for some reason it did not look the same to me. Is there any truth to some of the early model 98s being carbed or am I just mixing things up?

Scott nailed it. What is shown, in my best estimation, is a disassembled set of tb's. Without a complete top view, i'm pretty sure the fuel rails, injectors and injector wiring harness have been removed. The injector wiring harness is gone for sure, that is why he is showing that bottom view. The only thing that setup would be good for is a $79.99 ashtray or a paper weight. There were no carbs after 1997. Now scamper off and tell him what a douchebag he is for trying to sell that stuff.

If the advert was incorrect, get on to ebay, and you should be able to get your money back.

I did not buy these... I just saw them listed and thought the seller was making a mistake in his listing. Turns out it is what he was intending to dell off of the correct year bike, just not the complete assembly with rails and injectors.
