Got the bike home. Figured the best thing to do is to take it down to the frame. Not real pretty right now! 100_2137.jpg 100_2140.jpg 100_2139.jpg 100_2138.jpg

Yes, you're nuts. However, mentally unbalanced people are usually interesting so stick around. Good Luck with you basket case.

I'm be a tinkin' yo front end is twisted beyond repair, and i do hope i'm wrong.

    Any frame damage = scrap.

    Just part it out, man.

That bike is well and truly wrecked; don't waste your time.

Disassemble it and part it out.

The (probable) damage in and around the steering head has destroyed the frame.

For what you would need to spend, you could buy a not- yet- wrecked bike cheaper to ride.

I know you're joking cuz THAT bike is well beyond repair.

Obviously, the bike was moving really fast when it crashed, and i suspect the rider was either permanently disabled or seriously killed.

Holy Shit Man! Are you serious? You are gonna rebuild a dead man's basket case? Hell that's not even a basket case, I'm not sure what to call that. I think I did see a couple usable parts on it.. A valve cap maybe... If you get that thing back on the road for under $2000, you are some kind of miracle worker... What is it BTW?

    Its hard to beat free!!!!!
I believe I would sell what parts I could and use that money to buy a decent fixer upper.
The rear wheel, rotors, maybe exhaust, possibly calipers among some other small parts could probably get up enough to purchase one.

Digging into it some more, The frames appears unharmed. Im gonna take it to the dealership to verify this though. What would the frame and swingarm be worth?

IF after a thorough inspection of the frame, and making sure its straight, i would seriously look at your budget...cause like someone else said, if you get it to run for under $2000 you are good. If your budget says so, then go for it. but it is going to be an up hill battle.

For $1500-$2000 you could pick up a clean, mostly undamaged '86 700.

I think there would have to be damage to the steering head, judging by how dramatically the front wheel and forks were torn off.
