Hi all, installing new Barnett clutch and discovered 2 of the 8 friction plates are different. What order do I put them in? No instructions, no numbers on the plates. They appear to be 2 kevlar and 6 carbon fiber. Thanks!

Anyone think I got a bad kit? All friction plates should look the same, right?

you know I can't remember. I bought a barnett kit a while back and did a tutorial... let me see if I can find it... well, here's the tutorial but I can't tell from my picture: http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/10769-clutch-ebc-vs-barnett-vs.html

    maybe someone smarter will answer...

Not necessarily. Sometimes a different material is used on one or two of the plates to (believe it or not) allow them to slip easier. The idea is to reduce the 'jerk' when shifting from neutral to first, espicially when the engine is cold and the plates are still 'stuck' together.

Don't know about Barnett, but on 99 and later Honda VFR, there are two different friction discs used. Six are ID'd by a blue color, two by a brown color. The two 'oddball' plates are positiioned on the outside, that is one is next to the clutch center, the other is next to the pressure plate.
