Well I got to the dealer as soon as they opened yesterday and traded in the 08 Vulcan 900 for a New 07 VFR. I was a little concerned about my Big Icon Armored boots and the tight quarters around the gear shift, but within 5 minutes I had the feel of it and it is no longer a concern. Biggest difference between riding a cruiser and the VFR is the cruiser is a mode of transportation, the VFR is a fun machine. I LOVE THIS THING. The immediate throttle response is awesome. Folks that have always ridden sport bikes don't realize what a huge difference it is. I could only get in a about 50 miles yesterday, so I am going to try to get out this afternoon when it warms up and get those break in miles in so I can open things up a bit.

Congratulations and welcome to the site/clan! Is it a red one or the red/white/blue? I got my red 07 last August and couldn't be more pleased with it. If you are like most of us, your appreciation of the bike will only grow with experience.

Honda hit a sweet spot with the VFR. I'm always at a loss to explain to people why it's such a great ride. A GSX-R handles better with more power, but I can only ride one for about 20 minutes before I've got sore wrists and knees. A big BMW touring bike has better weather protection but isn't nearly as much fun (and we won't even discuss their "interesting" electrical issues). The fact is for real world riding, the small incremental advantage in handling/power a full-on sport bike offers is lost on most of us compared to the real world all-around sport/commuting/touring/fun! capability of the VFR.

As one of our astute contributors noted recently; one doesn't really chose a VFR so much as it chooses you. Be glad you're one of the chosen ones.

    Ride safe, have fun!

Thanks Bob. I got the Dark Candy Red one. They only had two left and the other was snatched up by a guy in Canada that paid cash and is having it shipped up there. I will post pictures once I get accessories I ordered installed. The factory bags and Heli bars.

    Thanks

    Thanks for this post Starr,
I just got mine (RWB) delivered last Saturday, and have not ridden it! It literally has 0 miles on it.
If it gets above 30 degrees here this weekend i am going to use that as an excuse to make a 4-block trip to the gas station to fill up the tank, too cold for me to go any further.
I am a new rider, only rode the Ninja500 for a few months last summer, and have never ridden a cruiser either.
So your post makes me feel like i made a good choice!
And thanks to Bob too for the "philosophical" (?) comment about being chosen....
    Can't wait for spring! ... ...

It's clear that you are already within the grasp of the seductive red siren. Believe me when I tell you that's a great place to be. You're gonna love every minute of it. Welcome to the madness!!

    Virgo,

Your welcome! It must be hell for riders who live in the North, having to actually wait for riding season. We ride here almost all year long. Just look at it this way with less miles your bike will depreciate slower:)
I have only been riding since August 2008. The cruiser was nice to learn on, but boring quick. You will love this bike! Coming from a Ninja, this bike will be more quiet I would think:)

Yes, you are in the same cold, snowy boat as the poor Canuks!:) I like your picture gallery. Finland looks really nice in the Summer. Reminds me of Oregon. Put on some heated gear, slap some spiked tires on that black demon and get out there...LOL

    Congrats.
I feel you, Brother. I traded my VTX1800 2005 for RWB and asked my self "What an a-hole. Why did not you do it sooner?"
Whai until you get more then 200 mi on the single tank, no vibration at all, glass-like rides, no wind noise in full-face helmet and options to look great in sportbike outfit compare to boring cruiser look. Then, when you almost in haven, you twist the troutle and it goes into "afterburner" mode, vibrates your ass at 8000 arpm, roars like wild beast and takes you to the new demention. After that you will take her to the corner, will see an asfalt comint true your visor, feel that your knee almost touching the ground and after you survived that, your would smile to yourself and say "That is a effing life!I am riding, I am a life!.

Congrats to both Starr and Virgo! "You have chosen...wisely!" Nice to have you both roaming the halls of our little institution...or facility...or ward...or maybe clinic is more appropriate. I don't know, it's good times though.

Wow! I must be in good company. I picked up a new '07 VFR (Red) just before Christmas, and I can't get enough of it! I got the matching hard bags, but no other accessories yet. I have just over a thousand miles on mine, even though the weather is uncharacteristically cold for the Florida Panhandle. I traded in my "beginner bike," a 600cc Shadow for this new baby! The ride to work is just so much more fun than it used to be.
