Im looking for the best price on a rear tire for my 06" VFR. The tire im looking at is Michelin Rear Pilot Power 2CT. My question is has anyone ordered from these guys/gals before? They seem to have a decent price on the tire at $124 shipped. Thanks in advance everyone and happy riding:smile:

I think Dennis Kirk generally has a good reputation. I used to use them a lot 20yrs ago working on snowmobiles and used to live nearby to their location.

Yep Dave,I've purchased motorcycle parts from Dennis Kirk many, many times.
Order the part and two days later I'm holding it in my hands.
I've had nothing but excellent service from them.

I just ordered a R/R from them. I ordered it on 3/24 and the expected receiving date was 3/30. I took the cheapest way on shipping. I got it on the day promised. No problems with them. As far as tires, I usually don't order tires from online. I know that they usually have the best prices, but you don't know what you're going to get. You may end up getting a tire that's been sitting on the shelf for 3 years. Rubber degrades over time. THIS IS JUST MY PERSONAL OPINION. I get my tires from a local shop that does alot of business and I look at the tire before it goes on to make sure it's within a year. Look at your tires, there should be a DOT and then a bunch of numbers. At the end is a 4 digit number. Those correlate to the week and year of manufacture. This works for motorcycle tires and car tires. I don't own anything else so I'm not sure about other tires (ie. ATV, Lawnmower....). Mine has the 4 digit # of 4908. Which means that they were manufactured in the 49th week of 2008. Take a look at yours. You can order from online, but are you going to get the next batch off the shelf, or are you going to actually get a NEW tire. You could always call and ask what the numbers are prior to shipping. Good luck.

Thats what I needed. Im a chicken with online ordering but that is soo much cheaper than locally, and the wallet is thin from the bike purchase. Cheers!!!

Ordered from DK plenty of times. very responsive Co. never had any problems. I continue to do biz with them mostly stuff for my 07 Honda Shadow VT1100.
prices for Cruiser parts are the best I have found. For my Interceptor I usually buy from Motorcycle superstore. Tires included they get their tires from Parts Unlimited, Same place as my Local stealership. Yes I knew about date codes and i check them, too. my new Metzler sportec M3's Manufactured 5109. Talk about Fresh.

DK rocks. They have great customer service and are very good with shipment times, and returns. Ordered from them for 20+ years. I have ordered my last few tires from Motorcycle Tires at TireExpress, the Motorcycle Tire Superstore, and motorcycle superstore before that. I love MC superstore as well...they rock.

Fast service and more parts than most online stores. I have to agree with everything everyone has said EXCEPT for the prices. They are a little high for most items which I've found cheaper elsewhere. And their "beat it by a penny" promotion is hilarious! Do they even still do that? Mostly purchase from Motorcycle Superstore, Competition Accessories (Tires Express) and Bike Bandit.

I think that the concerns over ordering a tire and getting something that's been on a shelf for three years is totally unfounded. I have ordered both of the Michelin 2CT tires from DK, and gotten fresh tires both times. The front Michelin PP 2CT has a date code of 4909, meaning it's less than 5 months old. I got it for $109 shipped with a tire pressure gauge to get my purchase over $100 to get free (well, $5 for the tire) shipping.

I love DK, always have had excellent luck with them.

No worries with Dennis Kirk or Motorcycle Superstore, both excellent vendors in my experience.

Any place that has the best prices for popular tires is not going to have them sitting on a shelf for three years. They probably move more tires in a week than your local dealer moves in a year. The only time to really be concerned is when it's an odd size or clearance/closeout special.

CBR, this is probably true, they probably do actually do alot more business with the low prices. However, again, just my personal opinion, after seeing the reports and the crashes, I just want to actually see the tires before they go on the bike. I do the same thing with my other 2 vehicles. I ask to see the tire prior to it going on. If I'm not satisfied, I make them get me another. You could probably do the same thing with the online stuff, but then you have to ship it back to them. I would rather pay the few extra bucks to actually see what I'm getting, and besides it's for my own peace of mind. Safe riding. I have ordered a few things from DK and I really do like their whole setup. Easy enough website, fast shipping. I have no complaints with the things that I've ordered.
