I found a place in Lansing, MI that offers the Total Control course. They've got seven dates this year, May through September. I'm going to try to get to one of them, hopefully in June.

Considering Cyborg's witty rebuttals a more apropos analogy would be to substitute one's dick for a pistol. Incest aside of course.

My VFR is precious to me, along with my skin, reasons I will be taking the course and with a VFR set up to take damage if I do drop it. I asked a legit question and got BZ and you attacking me. Screw that. I am done taking personal attacks and will respond. Don't like it, sucks to be you.

PS: What took you so long to jump in BB?

    Group Hug?

Come on now...group hug, OK? :grouphug:

Personally I'm glad I came across this post, not just for the entertainment value, but I had been thinking about a Lee Parks course. I'm signed up for a Mike Sullivan course May 27th and I think the the Lee Parks one on May 14th would be the perfect match. Thanks guys!

FYI Cyborg, the Navaho Indians when making a blanket sew in a flaw early in the process to acknowledge that not they, but only their creator is perfect. Go out and put a scratch on that damn thing and get on with it!

Me? Kind of busy packing up one of the small sizes of carrot wax you ordered. I know, a shameless plug, but a guy has to earn a living somehow.

Tell ya what. Best to drop that bad boy shit you got going if you do take any of the riders courses including MSF. The guys that teach it will have a foot in your ass so fast you will be out the door right skippy.

You got newbie written all over you and they will spot that real quick. I think you are chickenshit to get out there more than anything. Just my opinion of course..

Your best bet? Rent a bike from the outfit that is tossing the gig you are supposedly going to attend. Then take an anger management course. Calm is the secret to a shiny carrrot.

Some of the folks here especially those who live in places other than the PNW, may not be familiar with Mike Sullivan. This is one fast dude who can ride anything and does. The term "Ironman" fits. For more see the WMRRA site.

Cyborg: I attended the class to this March and there was this guy on a 600RR who low sided. But its like JRocket said if you follow the instructions to the letter and keep your cool, you should be good. Though none of us ever wants to drop our VFR ever, I know you would like to become a better rider (includes going faster, having fun and being safe). Towards that goal you have to shed a little of that fear of dropping the VFR. Its better to make mistakes in a low stress environment of the class as opposed to the street. My recommendation if you can take the class, do it. Don fear the reaper as the song says! (equate reaper to lowside).

Bubbe Bubba Oh sweet Bubba! Sometimes your love for your VFR brethren needs some mellowin. :p

Thanks for the Info! In point, it's not dropping the VFR I'm afraid of, it's my insurance agent who observed it'd be cheaper to have me killed than to repair the bike...

I need to mellow? Damn xeipher, you drinking when you posted that thought up? LOL!

I'm trying to push a fellow rider past their B.S. excuses so they'll actually try some new training. I offered up some thought provoking items and got repaid with scorn.

Last thing I need is the help of anyone from badbilly's Clown Car. All you've done is succeed at being a complete asshole.

Not yet, not yet. But, I am gonna be soon. I hope. :)

Bubba: Your advice is always relevant. But, the harsh tone  will put the intended recipient on the defensive, and the actual thought never gets across.

Cyborg: The speeds at the class are pretty low cos the corners are pretty tight. So even in the case you put it down (and you won't) it will be a mild rash. As the wise old men say "Adds character to ye bike!". Key is though do not be afraid to make mistakes. Thats the main point of the class. Else you wont get your moneys worth. Do all the mistakes you would normally do, get it corrected and you are golden on the street, and maybe brown in the pants

I'm just proud of my VFR's lack of rash and would like to keep her (and me) that way. Believe it or not, it's the very reason I'm looking at taking the course to begin with. IMO, any course that helps counter the cager is worth it. And for the record, I'm all the character my bike needs, just ask my boss!

It's OK to shift focus from BZ to me if it makes ya feel better. He's actually trying to help you. Talking about his mama like that is not a great way to win friends and influence people. Well..maybe a few harleydoods.

Post your bosses Email addy and I will ask him for the record.

I just finished reading two pages of this thread and frankly I am disappointed in what I read.
It's no one's business why someone does or doesn't take a riding course.
Some of you think you are hot shit riders and want to pounce on somebody because he is worried
about hurting himself and/or the bike. Again, it is none of your frickin business.
Ganging up on someone like this indicates a very low level of immature schoolyard bullying,
and I don't take kindly to bullying types of people.
So ladies, knock this shit off before I really get mad . . . and leave Cyborg alone!
And Cyborg, clean up your language.
    Carry on ~

The only thing I own that I treasure more than my VFR is my 1 of 47 KC-10A Brietling watch. The Brietling can never be replaced, ever. It is a discontinued model. I wear it about 75% of the time. If I never have a son, I will be buried wearing that watch.

My VFR is my second most prized possesion. I'm the only owner. I bought it in Mar 2000 & it was promptly stolen. I bought a second one from the same salesdude the second I got my insurance check. I maintain the bike meticulously. I wash & wax it whenever it gets dirty. The bike gets compliments everywhere I take it. I lo-sided it last October. How? My own stupid fault. I can place a minute amount of blame on cold tires, but make no mistake, it was completely my fault. I put it down teaching a USAF ASRC. That's right, I crashed right in front of the guys I was suppossed to be mentoring. It cost me $1000 to fix & it only took 5 hours & the 5 days to wait for all the parts. I went on leave to Germany a few days after I went down. The single first thing I did when I returned was fix the bike. Then I went riding.

So, why am I writing this? It's very simple. Take advanced training. It can & will save your life. If you crash your bike, so freaking what? It's a motorcycle, not a sculpture. It was meant to be ridden & ridden fast. Learn to ride it the way it was designed & this will most assuredly make you that much a safer rider. Wear your gear & ride. If you are afraid of life, guess what? It will eventually kill you.

    KC-10 FE out...
