So as the title says, whats your fuel range on your second gen? I hit 125Miles before she started to hiccup and sputter.. I figure she would be good for a total of around 170. thats probably bone dry.. This I might have to try out as an experiment.... Strap a 2 1/2 gallon gas can on the back and just ride till its empty.

I realize that in town mileage is gonna be lower than highway mileage. I'm just wondering an average ...

    Cheers

That sounds about right, seems like I average about 35 or 36 mpg on my 86 750.

Thats a bit low lads I get around 155-160 miles up to reserve, then about 40 miles to empty (did up to 37 miles on reserve once broke it to a nervous sweat on that one, but still a bit of fuel in the tank) . Giving it some stick on the twisties & straights, bimbling thro town either way does not make any difference.
Bike as all standard jetting, air filter etc.

just filled up yesterday., let you know when I empty her. I never plan on getting more than 25-30 on reserve just to be safe. Hope it doesn't take 3 mos. to go trhough this tank of gas.

I'm having some issues with my Tank right now my sensor wire is broken so I have no fuel light so I'm doing the good old trip meter fuel watch. I filled her up and hit 118 miles and my tank is just a lil over halway down on a combination of city and highway miles. So far so good. I'll keep you posted Going to the mountains tomorrow so going to run her from full to reserve to see what I get and I'll let you know.

The last tank on my '86 700 gave me 49 mpg. It was about 75% highway at 65 mph (or thereabouts ). Was at about 198 miles and the fuel light came on just as I pulled into a gas station.

I get to around 130 before the light comes on, then a few miles later I have to switch to reserve. Mine runs rich and I'm a big boy so your milage may vary.

Filled up yesterday went to the mountians and rode to work this morning, reading 138 and still going. I'm going to ride until she cuts off then switch to reserve for the most accurate reading. I'll let you know what I get but so far not bad.

well, I'm getting 48 mpg on the last two tanks I burned off. Most of that is open highway @ 75 mph... BUT the carbs have yet to be sync'd yet so I may be getting better than that afterward.

I get about 173 before the light. I only drive 14 miles to work on the highway, but its at 85mph. (that's just to keep up with I95 traffic!) Drive around locally lots.

42mpg is pretty consistent for me, for the light coming on between 175 and 180. That's with me riding it 50/50 mountains and freeway. I'm not crazy in the hills (not full throttle out of every corner) because I'm commuting. But I do like to open it up on the on-ramp to the freeway when I get there. If I do mountain-only riding, or run it a lot in the garage, it'll drop to the low 30s. Haven't done any freeway-trips to see what I can get on those (but at nearly 6000 rpm at cruise, not sure how good it will be)

I got 144 miles on a tank last Saturday and ran out, had to pulll to the side of the road and switch to reserve. But that was on a tank that was all accelleration highway madness. I'm bad I'm suspose to be taking it easy on ole girl and I'm riding her like she is stolen. I can't help it it's a quick little bike, I have to totally redo my riding style if I want to keep her. She's a Cougar guys she may be up there in age but she likes younger guys and she puts out let me tell ya.
