I just had to replace some of those little black plastics clips (for the underside of the fairing above the front wheel). Freaking Honda dealer charges $3.72 EACH >:( It's robbery!!
They package and sell these things individually ??? Ridiculous! The plastic wrapping & the printing on the package must cost more than the part itself >:(
MAN, I HATE GOING TO THE DEALER FOR ANTHING!!!

RF If you have a Saturn car dealership in your area they make trim clips that just may work.I bought 8 clips for $2.16 cents I've not had to use them yet, but for that price what the hell if they don't? here's a part number that I have 21077123, check it out for yourself!

    Howdy,

I used the Saturn clips on my 98 because the retards at the dealership kept breaking my clips and then denying it and not replacing them!! >:( I no longer use those dolts. The Saturn clips will work, but they are a tight fit at they are just a hair too big. Also, getting them back out can be a bit of a pain. However, they are darn near indestructible and dirt cheap. I bought a pack of twenty for two dollars.

Descriptioin and pics on my website

I have since gone back to Honda clips. I get them from www.servicehonda.com and they are a butt load cheaper than any dealership. The newer design is more robust than the original clips and easier to remove than the Saturn clips. Now that I do all of my own work on the bike, I have not broken a clip in a few years.

    Adios,

Let me guess "you changed the oil?"
I broke two clips also.on the bottom...still better then the old VFR's .
When I purchased the new replacement ...there are newer one's made completely of plastic.
    Still cost approx $4.00 each.
Over the years I make it a habit to buy extra.

I broke a few when I first got my bike. I was really surprised that the local dealer had none of these in stock. I mean, it's an obvious weak point.

Anyone know the Honda P/N for 00-01' trim clips? My service manual doesn't show this info.

Go to bike bandit.com. I just purchased several@2.80 when replacing some fairings on my '01. They have pop up diagrams to find the parts. look at all years ('99-'00) for some of the clips are less expensive.

    All,

The Honda PN for the clips is 90683-GAZ-003. Also try www.ronayers.com, they show a price of $1.72 each.

Even better go to an auto parts store. Most carry an assortment of these push clips. I bought six packs of four for 1.00 a pack. Prices of course vary but when you break these stupid little things every time you change your oil like me cause I have fat fingers and no patience ( hence the reason I bought six packs) you really dont feel like paying for the honda original part.

NAPA stores sell a package of plastic push type rivets; there are 7 in the pack listing for $6.00. NAPA part number is 665-1316.

RonAyers is a good source too. - Also in a pinch, Lowes has a selection of hardware - different size trim clips included.

I just bought these today for my '99. They are way to big in diameter; holes have to be drilled out.

I got mine for cheap from Dave Lusk at Mosites Motorsports and got extras because I knew I'd break them. If/when I break those, I'm going to try zip ties. Cheap, plentiful and nobody is going to see it way down under there anyway.

It's a very, very stupid crappy design that Honda inflicted on us.

I would have dearly paid more money for my '98 to have the dzus

fasteners that my '90 RC30 had.....on ALL of the trim locations.

May the engineer, that put these into the design of our bikes,

have his armpits infested with fleas from a 1,000 camels!

The original clips are the easiest to use but easy to break. The later VFR uses one that has a plastic phillips screw that works better unless you can't get the screw driver in to unscrew it. I bought a bag of aftermarket push-pin clips that work but they're a bear to get the pin out on removal and you can easily break the plastic tab it's inserted in. I just ordered a bag of 6mm fasteners from a US company - $8.00/25 - which use the screw method. If anyone's interested, I'll let you know.
