Sounds like an interesting project - please post a few photos when you have a chance.

I've read in previous posts that front end swaps are a bit tricky though as the front forks on the VF500F are longer than more modern forks. Have you checked the clearance (at full compression) between the front fender and the radiator? This seems to be the Achilles’ heal for this upgrade.

On a side note - the owner of the bike in the thread posted above is having a custom radiator fabricated – which from the description is designed to increase the clearance. Could be a great find for owner’s interested in upgrading the forks.

i have the front forks on but its just a roller right now as my motor is out on the stand while i try and see what im doing with this motor i tried stuffing a vfr750 motor in from a 91 but its to much for the frame and with all the cutting that would have to be done its just not worth it

I'll play the devil's advocate this time... ala squirrelman.

There are enough weak links with this engin that it's going to be very expensive to make it reliable enough. I'm at the point right now that I'm just going to put it together and ride it, and try to take it easy enough that I can improve it in the off season.

BTW... I'm using my bike on the street, so I need it to last longer.

I love the VF500 now as I did when I had my first one almost 25 years ago, but I have to say that it is a really bad choice as a track bike. Maybe if new parts were available it wouldn't be bad, but since they aren't you will have a hard time having any kind of reliability when running it hard on the track (or the road). You just can't redline these old bikes a lot before valves will start dropping. An old F2 or F3 CBR600 would be a much better choice, IMO. Whatever you chose, good luck to you and keep us posted.
