I've noticed that my speedo is off on the vfr, but the odometer is right on when compared to my GPS.

Nonetheless, KC-10 FE is right....it's not friggin' rocket science. When I get above 40, I'm kewl with that. I also have a F150 that gets 17 on a good day......a really good day.

The F150 might get an extra 1 or 2 mpg if you push it over a cliff...

    Hi syne7

Once you have been around the site long enough you will see that the 5th Gen does not have a reserve.

    Nor do their riders!

The single only purpose my F150 serves is a transportation device to the waiting room of the Ford dealer when it needs warranty service. I just got my 5th recall notice in the mail last week. This POS is getting traded in September & I will never own a Ford again. GMC/Chevy, I'm comin' back.

    KC-10 FE out...

I have been getting over 200 miles to a tank. Stock everything. Most I've seen was about 230, but that was just eyeballing it, no actual calculations on mpg.

I looked at the first couple posts on here and saw the talk about getting 200 miles before the light blinks/getting 200 miles to a tank. If I fill up right when my light starts blinking, I only put in 4 gallons. It does happen at about 160 miles or so which means I do get over 200 miles to a tank. I usually push through to about 200-220 before I fill up and still usually have half a gallon or so (I ride in NOVA where there is a gas station every 10ft so I'm never too worried). I was just a little confused cause it seemed like everyone was saying the same thing. Light coming on at 160 IS getting 40+ per gallon since the light comes on with 1-1.5 gallons left in tank. Anybody have the same experience?

I regularly get over 200 miles per tank, even though she is ten years old now. I can even goose her pretty good and she still does well on mileage.
On a recent trip I rode 200 miles between gas stations in 2 hours. That is 100 miles per hour in simple math. I have yet to be disappointed by this bike.

Dear God! Don't let RedRover see your post.

That's pretty impressive mileage for that speed drewl. I typically get a lot less than that if I'm on the gas, but then again the terrain here is pretty hilly and that likely brings the numbers down a bit.

There are lots of vairables in fuel mileage, just a few are
Temp, Altitude, Throttle use (which prob accounts for most of the difference between members here), traffic, gearing, and even different tires have diff diameters, affecting final gearing.
BUT even with all the above being equal, each machine is different, and mileage will not be identical.

    Consider this:
I consistently achieve far greater mileage on my RC51 than 90% of the guys on that forum - and I only ride that bike when tearing up the mountain roads. Some of those guys get under 100 miles per tank! I get 145-160.
Yet on my 2000 VFR I get 160-180. Average at best, maybe below average considering the above posts. Granted I do more commuting on this bike, but still, same rider, two extremely different experiences on two diff bikes in relation to the other guys riding the same bike(s).

As a wise man once said, "Your mileage may vary".

I only got about 118 miles to blinky yesterday.... I run 87 Octane, Power Commander II, Two Bro's, K&N. On average, I get 170-200 though. Also, my teeth count is not stock. I should reset the GPS trip miles next time to see how many "actual" miles I get.

Gee, I love my machine more and more each day. I too see 200 miles on the odo before she blinks. I bought my 98 a year ago, as is, did nothing to it but an oil change. it has almost 39,000mi on it.

My last bar started blinking about 5 miles from work this morning and I thought, "If they have a gas gauge no less a blinking one this must not have a reserve petcock. I wonder how many miles are left till I am pushing this thing..." Thanks for all the info this helps a ton.

I checked this over the weekend, got up to 165 miles when it started blinking, mostly motorways, 80ish mph average, with pillion. I was panicking a little because the next chance to fill up was 30 miles away, but I made it there fine and filled up with 197 miles on the trip.....
