I got my cast removed on Tuesday from my little incident on April 12. You can read about it here if interested: Buell Motorcycle Forum: Moab, UT - revisited

I am kind of surprised how quickly this tired old body is recovering and I went out for a spin last night to make sure I could shift and support my weight before back to commuting. The weather has been fantastic and I couldn't wait to get back to riding to work.

My wife was pissed that I went ahead and rode so soon but that's her problem. Now I can start thinking about longer rides again.

Congratulations, Mike. Riding is great therapy.

Mines not heeling so fast! A couple of months back I wrecked a ZX14 and broke my knee and ankle. I rode today for the first time and they both hurt like hell.

    Benny,
That 14 is a mean machine. A buddy of mine had one that used it for drag racing. We had gone to Arkansas right after he got it and he commented that it kind of scared him in the corners having that much power. For someone of his riding ability to makie a comment like that is something.

I rode the VFR to work the last 3 days but the 22mi. ride kind of bothered my ankle so I took the ST1300 for a 100mi. ride today. Did pretty good but but won't be taking any trips for a couple of weeks. Made the mistake of trying a short bicycle ride this afternoon and now my ankle is quite swollen and hurts. Tomorrow will be a rest day it looks like.

Well, this was my lucky day! A good friend came into town for a week visit. He bought a ZX14, as to join me on a ride thru Nevada. We camped out at the BlackRock desert. the next morning we wanted to see how fast the ZX14 would go(on salt). He did the first run and hit 151 on the GPS. Well I had to out do him! At 174 mph the front tire blew! I went down on my left side and broke my left ankle, I slid to a stop, only to look up and see the 14 come down on me and brake my right knee.

We rode my VFR to Reno, and I was treated. It was a real adventure. The pain was not real bad until we got about 40 minutes from Reno. Looking back on the whole thing, makes feel lucky. My buddy in very rich and did not give a crap about the ZX14, and even paid for all my medical. Hard to believe as kids we stole bicycles, and he's now running his own 700 employee company.

Whoa, having 2 sides out of commission at the same time must have really sucked. I had to go back to work 5 days after my surgery to try and get as much done as I could. I have a fairly physical job that was real hard to do on crutches.

What went through your mind when you saw that 14 coming at you? I bet 175 was pretty cool. I had a Blackbird that would do 172 but I chickend out after 130.

Ya, I had a blackbird also, did about 160 on Ca 280 @1am. I loved that bike! It was stolen! The 14 coming at me was just an Oshit moment, at that point I was out of the slow motion phase and had little time to think. Just covered my head.

Funny thing is, I've got friends that ride and I've not told many of this wreck. I feel kinda embarrassed about it.
