Wow! I could have used some advise like that! Man I wish you could have made it up there Friday. The paving seemed great after they cleaned it. And reports were that during the racing this weekend it was awesome. The problem they have right now is that they having moisture coming up through the old pavement and getting trapped under the new pavement. This moisture heats up and expands and cases what looks like little volcano's in the new paving. The only thing the can do is identify these areas and drill relieve holes and then re-roll these areas. Lets see how long this new paving will hold up to this years abuse. During our morning briefing, the manager for Summit Point talked to us about the steps they have taken to improve the surface at Main.

I asked one of the control riders to talk to him/work with him. I dont know if he was having a problem or what. I just think he may need someone to work with him and show him the lines. I talked to one of the corner workers and they told me anytime he would get around other riders he would pit and asked to be sent out on the track when it was empty.

Hey Matt. Those pointers are just something to try next time, and this will get a CR thinking about bumping you if he sees you setting up riders for passes, smooth passes that is.

Also, the whole point of a Riding TD Club, whether it be NESBA (The Best), TPM, or whomever, is to have high quality CR's that are willing to teach you, give pointers, etc, so that you become a better rider. You should never feel bad about bugging those CR's, b/c you are paying for that instruction, and if a CR doesn't really want to work with you, then he or she shouldn't be a CR.

I wanted to come out Friday, but that's why I called you b/c it was raining here at my house, and I figured it must have been raining there at Summit as well.

It would have been nice if I could have worked with a CR at Summit. When I did the Nesba day up at Lighting in NJMP, I linked up with a CR after my second session. He really opened my eyes on a couple of things and I think by the end of my day I had made some great improvements. Hell, I didnt see much of any other riders let alone a CR for 90% of my riding that day. That would be the only thing I would change. Oh and I think I forgot to mention, not one single crash. Two maybe three minor off track excursions. The report I got from the Roger Lyle day on Thursday was that there was a red flag on just about ever session.

Anyone in the Hampton Roads area? One of my friends and I both ride VFRs would be nice to have a group VFR ride on a regular basis. We also take day trips to the Charlottesville area and jump on the Blue Ridge Parkway or Skyline Dr. We're planning a trip for later this month if anyone is interested.

Hello BearNVA, I'm in newport news, where are you? Can't ride now (actually at work). I'm working this weekend (I'm a MSF RiderCoach at TNCC). But we should definitely communicate and ride sometime.

YouTube - Summit Main B group MARRC Track Day
Another short video from the track day. Still in the morning session so the track was still slipper a bit. Just had to know where to go in a few turns. Too bad youtube wouldn't allow for a longer clip. The next two laps were open track for me where I finally started to push it. Two things to note- At minute 3:40 or so the group enter the straight. A couple riders move to the right side of the track to pass behind a CR. The CR was waving them by because he was trying to get space to evaluate a rider for a bump. Plus if you watch my other video you will notice in this video the same duc rider mucks up things here. He also moved to the far right side of the track for some dude reason!! The other note I would like to make about this video is the fact that I beat up on an R1 in the straight. Really I think he checked up on me or something. Not sure why he didnt walk me?!?! Either way, I'll take the kill how ever I get it. Watching these videos is really helping me. I see some major faults on my end that I'm gonna be working next time. I need to smooth out a couple things, braking and I seem to be doing a lot of mid turn correction. I don't know if this is due to me checking up because of the traffic in front of me or what. Either way its food for thought for next time. Of course I could be a lot faster but I'm working on the smooth part. And obviously it needs some work!

I hate to pimp the product but MARRC is putting together another track day set for July 2nd, Friday. I'm signing up for sure and I already after me transportation locked down. Is there anyone on this board that would be interested in attending this track day? I can get you the info and it only $150 for none MARRC members. Let me know.

Matt, cool video. Two things I noticed and I know it was the morning sessions, learning the turns, and you are shaking off your cobwebs, but you need to be smoother in the turns. I noticed that you are making several mid turn adjustments to your lines and your speeds through the turns. This kills your speeds, but it makes other riders and CR's uncomfortable, especially to give you the bump to the upper levels.

The other thing I noticed which is very hard to do, is "hot pit" in to get open track. Come down flying into hot pit with your arms off handlebars as wide as you can get them (like you are trying to describe to someone how fat that girls ass was), so that you can let the Track Marshall know that you want a huge gap and open track. Once you get away from the Congo line that B Group is typically known for, then you can work on technique and speed. Remember, smooth is fast.

Also, the guy you were following in the last 2-3 minutes of your video is very dangerous. He keeps getting off the racing line and then diving back onto that line as he approaches the turn. Not good.

Dude, That ride to Fredericksburg was fun but OMG was it a long trip up and down 64 & 95... the stock seat on the VFR after about an hour without stopping is like concrete!! I had fun though....
