New '07 RWB w/bags. Long history with BMW's but they have lost their appeal. Have always admired the VFR tech, reputation, and history. Will try to take advantage of the unlimited mileage part and see how I like.

Congratulations. I hope you'll be happy with it. It will be interesting to see how it compares to your previous bikes.

Well, I was in the middle of posting, but was interupted dy another SoCal earthquake, 5.9, not bad.. Anyway, I picked her up on Sat morning and I got home this eve. and now have 853 miles on 'er. Observations: Once I got used to the lack of a bottom end I love the motor. BMW oilheads were known for part throttle surging and I was disappointed to find it with the VFR, but I'm hoping it disappears with the miles like the Oilheads. I am definately not a fan of loud pipes, but this is a great sounding motor that could use a little more audible tone/depth, no bark or rasp wanted. Might also keep me from looking for 7th gear! Now, the suspension: At a wopping 146lbs I have issues with a lot of bikes, and the VFR is no different. Preloads are backed off and I still get beat up from the front and rear. This also might soften up a little over time, but I would be interested to hear what other non lard-butts have done to help this.
    Oh...the pic's. In work

front preload 2 lines showing, rear +1 from full soft or +3 for really hard riding.
    I weight 150 or so.
The ride is hars the only way to really get around it is gold valves in the front w/ after market springs and after market rear shock.
after a bit I got used to the harsh ride on bumpy roads, ala keep arse off seat motocross style.

thought about putting a pillow on the heat. but that means i can't even tip toe when stopping

are there custom gel seat for vfr? i had a sargeant which didn't work out as well as i'd like
