I am looking at an 04' with Staintunes on it, but the gent didn't have the bike remapped or anything. I wanted to ask the community if the Commander is necessary and if it will help, what is best setup regarding K&N filter or not and which map would best suit the street. The only other factor is he put a 15tooth front sprocket on there. Thanks upfront. Also maybe ideas where to buy the commander etc.. if there is discount through group etc... I hope my deal doesn't fall through!!!!:blah: :smash: :yield:

You won't have to have a Power Commander with Staintunes. Mine is a 99 with them and doesn't have one and I don't notice any problems at all. I am sure it would help with performance a little though, just like it would help a little if the pipe was stock. Even more so with aftermarket of course. I am thinking of going with a Power Commander myself, but haven't looked into them much. I could map it myself with a dyno because I have lots of experience with a Motec ECU on a 600cc RR powered racecar, but I believe Power Commander provides a few different maps already done and you can just toggle between them to see which one you like best. Is this right? and what should we be expecting to spend?

I have the powercommander on my bike. it is the pcII model and I got it from ebay. they show up there every once in a while. the guy selling it listed it as a california model piece so I got it pretty cheap. I may be wrong but I dont think the power commander itself cared whther I put it on a CA bike or not as the connector is the same and you pick the map that applies to your bike. anyway, I digress. Yes you will see a little performance increase if you want to add it, but as previously stated, you don't have to have it.

I've got an '05 VFR w/ ABS, and you can't go wrong with adding the Pwr Comm III USB w/ o2 eliminators. It really smooths out the delivery of the power band. Before it was installed, the throttle was like an ON-OFF switch. I have gutted the cat, installed Scorpion cans, removed all smog crap, & it runs like a VFR should!!!! Kenji P.S. You can download your maps from Pwr Commander website.

Hi KENJI, Did gutting the cat and smog removal do anything to void your warranty? I plan on doing the same to my 04. Thanks BBuck.

    A slight recoil.

rdrunner, I had a custom map done on a dyno, it produced 110hp and really smoothed out the power band. Kenji
