Good idea to start a new thread as this heading is for the Helibars and unless you're following it, some may miss out.

The helis came the other day. It took six hours to install. 5 hours on the right bar (learning curve) and one hour for the left. Yeah, I take my time! I've been on two rides and can attest that they do help quite a bit, sitting more upright, putting more weight on the seat and off the rists and triceps. It does take a bit more force to turn the bike while cornering but comfort was such a problem with the bike that I can deal with the conering. The effectivity of the heli bars depend on what angle you lock them in at. I found that you get a bit more rise out of the bars if you set the angle of the bars as far back as possible toward you but still allowing clearance from lock to lock. I am looking forward to a ride to the smokies and getting taimed by the dragon in July hopefully.

Fellas, I thought I would add just a few thoughts on the install now that it's done and everything turned out "darn near perfect..." I can't see how one of you guys put them on in "about an hour"?? Getting my beer cold took longer than that, and the old joke about "The young bull and old bull" comes to mind. Anyway here's my thoughts on the install, for what they're worth... I cut both forward "tangs" off the mastercylinders. The #426 Dremel cutting- wheel recommended by Heli worked perfect. I rotated both hydraulic lines at the banjo fittings. I also re-used the zip/cable tie from the right fork tube to re-secure the front brake hydraulic line to the fork. My line was rubbing on the very front of the dash when going full-lock to the left. When removing the vibration dampeners, I left the stock bars installed. No need to use a vice, especially since the old lady kept that along with "The Big House"...Oh well.. And lastly, I re-installed the "C" clips or wires after I was done. Why have left overparts when you can re-use them...? So there's my thoughts. I went for a short ride and the Heli's are SWEET. What a difference! I'm thinking we need to start that "Group Buy-Sargent Seat" thread soon... I'd like to hear your thoughts...!

    Ride Safe!!

That was me:wink: It really only took me an hour. Granted I am a mechanic by trade and have been for many years. Windex worked well for removing the vibration dampeners for inside the stock bars. I also left the old bars on to remove the dampeners. I only cut the forward tab on the clutch master cylinder using just a Harbor Freight die grinder with an abrasive wheel.

    Hi Kia,

Sent you a PM a couple of weeks ago on buying a set for my 2002 VFR. I'm still interested - can you get back to me with next steps.

    Thanks

Morning, I received a few inquires from the list. I will be conducting a group buy in the first week of September 2010. If people want to wait and get on the list, the more that sell, the cheaper the end cost.

I need a set for my 2003 in early September. How long with it take to get them? I have a long ride scheduled for 9/23-24 and I need to get them installed before then.

If there is enough interest in a new group buy, I am glad to arrange for one. We'd need at least 5 confirmed orders in the next week. Thanks
