so, i recently recerived an 85 VF700 FII i think are the numbers on it. it was wrecked like 20 years ago, the guy who gave it to me received it from the wreck, a friend of his, and he had the bike running. since then, it's been parked with all ecu boards in plastic bads, tank unhooked and just taking up space. been moved a few times from space to space. where would be a good place to start to get this bike running?

I'm not qualified to give you any specifics, but in general I would start from the inside of the bike and work outwards while you have the chance. If the bike is in pieces, that gives you the opportunity to make sure each piece is in good condition. Then, systematically add those good pieces to the bike until you've got a proper bike to have a ton of fun on!

Also, make use of the search feature, as there are (or have been) many people in your situation who have come here for advice on 1st Gen specific forum.

    Also, welcome!

engine is pretty much complete, except for wiring stuff, but mechanically complete. the plastics seem to have taken most of the damage. the guy went over backwards on it, like if you were on a dirt bike so the gauges are messed up, forks a bit tweaked, but frame is straight and everything else seems pretty tip top. thanks for any advice!
