We are in the process of bringing a 1984 VF500F back to life. We know the main jets are different - fronts are 102's and the rears are 104's, however we are not sure on the correct locations for the emulsification tubes. There are 2 different configurations - 1 set has 3 holes evenly spaced along the tube, the other set has 2 holes evenly spaced and the 3rd hole is located further up the tube. We're thinking the front carbs have the evenly spaced tubes and the rear carbs have the unevenly spaced tubes, however we're not sure. Can someone in the VFRworld help us resolve this? Thanks, "Spike"
A link to a thread on VF500F jetting & emulsion tubes (photo on page 5) http://vfrworld.com/forums/1st-2nd-generation-1983-1989/14590-vf500-fuel-mileage.html On a side note the jetting for the '84 is #102F/#105R. Also, the jet needles are different front to back on the '84 - Front: 2VA, Rear: 2VD. Hope this is of help. Let us know how you make out.
The needles are different left-right I believe. Check it out to be sure, but the 500 carbs are screwy like that.
