First of all I want to give a shout out (yeah I said it...a shout out) to everyone who made it to the fall G2G at Deals Gap. 2 and 3/4 days of great riding (everyone else got 3 full days of riding), great food, and great people. As always Mo at the Kickstand Lodge took great care of us.

Well it happened...I joined the club. MiddleTBabb and I just finished our last run over the cherohala skyway, said our goodbyes to Abner Malidy set on our cruise home. We made it maybe 15 miles up highway 39 where on a right hander, with a little gravel in the turn, I low sided at about 30-35 mph.

I hit the ground on my right side first then tumbled over on my tail bone and slid into the ditch where I ended up with the bike. I remember thinking, as I'm sliding down the road, Wow this doesn't hurt at all!!! It didn't hurt because 3 weeks earlier for my 30th birthday all my friends and family chipped in and bought me a Shift one piece leather suit. Thanks Everyone!!!

All the gear really was the difference between going to the hospital and going home. I don't have a scratch on me! My butt feels like i spent a week in a federal "pound me in the ass" prison though.

Well here are the pics. The last two are my favorite. They were taken less then 5 minutes after the wreck. I have entitled them "ATGATT" and "F^ck it...Sh*t happens" I'm off to Lakeview motorsports to check out the RC 51 they have up there...:cheersaf:

Yeah it sucks...I would rather it not have happened but on the bright side State Farm is taking care of me. Because I financed the bike through State Farm and my insurance is with them they will pay off the bike no matter what the value of the bike is. So let's say I owed 5k and the bike is only worth 4k they payoff the entire loan. Plus they are buying me all new riding gear. State Farm is awesome.

That really sucks! I had an awesome time riding with you and Tyler and other than the wrecks that you and Switchblade had and my 80+ mph speeding ticket on the way home the trip was perfect.

    Sorry to hear.

I gotta hand it to you though, you have about the best attitude I've ever seen for someone who jacked their bike up. My hat is off to you, sir! Not trying to pour salt in the wounds, but pic #5 is priceless!

So glad to see that you're alright. Apperantley September is not the month to own an RC. I rode with a guy a few weeks ago that crashed his five week old '06. I rode with the same guys father, also on an '06, a week after that and he too put it in a gaurdrail. The very same guardrail his son previously smoked. Anyway, the damage to the bike looked fairly severe; glad you were able to walk away.

At least you had Tyler there to kiss it and make it better. I'm sorry to see that happen to you and that awesome bike. Maybe the VFR gods are warning you not to talk about selling that VFR any more! I had a great time riding and hanging with you guys this weekend - that was the best trip ever!

Thanks for all the comments! I decided a long time ago that I'm not going to pout over a motorcycle...especially when I get to walk away without a scratch. Pic #5 is my favorite also. All I could think to do at the time was just laugh and be glad I'm still here.

As far as the bike goes I'm never going to see her again. I don't really think there was much to salvage anyway.

The Shift suit was amazing. I still remember sliding on my forearm and thinking "I can't believe this doesn't hurt." The leather there is pretty scuffed up and a hole wore through there. I scuffed up the right thigh, wore a hole through in the shoulder, and surprising there are no scuffs on the ass where I slid the most. I would recommend a Shift suit to anyone looking to buy a suit.

Why does the ground always have to be so mean to our bikes?

Glad you are ready to get back on it.

    Yep.^^^^^
Decided that very same thing a long time ago when I crashed and totalled my pride and joy,my beautiful Candy Aleution Blue '84 VF700F.
No matter how pretty they are they're just things, and things can be replaced.
It's more important that you are still around and kicking.

Thanks for the pics of the suit Comicus,I appreciate it.
Looks like it held up pretty well.

That sucks really really really bad but I'm glad you are okay. That picture should be in a magazine, oh yea and by the way, we aren't the cops so you can tell us how fast you were REALLY going.....

    well... that just sucks

now i wish that i had ridden your RC to the gas station that morning, just so i could say...
"well i was the last one to ride it that didnt put it in the ditch!!!"

the good news is that you're still here to ride another day. start planning the spring G2G.

oh and, that will teach you about bringing "another girl" to the VFR party!

it was great to see everyone from the spring G2G again, and meeting the new guys as well.

Ya know I'm really not sure how fast I was going. I was focused on what was going on out in front of me. 30 mph or so sounded good but I guess it could have been about 50 ... The cop was really cool. When he got out of the car and saw I was ok the looked at the bike and said "well looks like I might have to cite you for improper park because that doesn't look like a parking spot to me."
