My first post as I am new to the forum. I have had a Ninja 500 for a year and 3300 miles then purchased a Yamaha FZ6. I owned the Yamaha for 2.5 years and put 10,500 miles - mostly city. Today I got an offer on the FZ6 and I accepted it. I saw a nice 2007 anniversary edition VFR with Givi luggage that I liked. It has about 6k miles. Anything I should look for in this model year? I saw some VFRness thingies for Gen 6 and I have not read yet about what that is. Excited to get a new-to-me bike! I think the bike needs new tires. I think I will go with Michelin PR2's

As far as I read the 07 doesn't have that problem with the R/R and vfrness.Someone correct me if I am wrong.. I have 07 RWB and have had no problems even riding it in traffic with 100 degree weather.

    Hey Dani, welcome!
You'll love the 6th gen if you get one... I bought mine used with 6800mi and hardly any maintenance done on it (factory tires too, but the rest of the bike was still in good condition) and it's been nothing but awesome ever since. No electrical or mechanical issues whatsoever. I have BT021 rubber on right now, got a Sargent seat for the longer rides, changed rear sprocket to -1 tooth, did a little mod on the exhaust to make it a little louder, got a PowerCommander to smooth out the throttle.... but as far as I'm aware there are no actual "issues" to be made aware of. Just little niggles that are just personal preference things that you might want to change. Someone else, correct me if I'm wrong, but these bikes will last forever if you bother to do even a little of the regular maintenance like oil changes and stuff.

    No r/r problems.

It was earlier vesions of the 6th gen. I want to say the 05 was the first year of the fix or maybe it was last year of the problem. You will be good to go with the 07. Get some new tires for sure. At 6k the bike probably has the stock crap on it. Use the forum search and find plenty of info on it.

    Congrats!

my 07 was bought used with 2.5 k miles.

No problems at all. Don't expect any really!

Only disappointing thing is the small tool kit, it doesn't come with the rear suspension adjustment spanner!

    otherwise...WONDERFUL MACHINE.

here's to you and your new bike

Get the bike, you'll love it. I bought an '06 over the summer and have put 5k on it so far (+ more miles on my Speed Triple) and I like the bike more every time I ride it. Definitely put the Road 2s on it, that's what I've got as well and they are awesome on the VFR. I ride it like a sportbike and I've never felt like I was out of traction. They do great in the rain and the lifespan is pretty decent. Fantastic tires for this machine.

Enjoy and welcome to the 6th Gen Club!

I have ridden the 6th gen and I own a 5th gen. I have no problem with either one. I think the 6th gen handles better. Get the bike!

Thanks. Was a little sad to see my FZ6 go after 2.5 years of faithful ownership and a nice 2-up 160 mile yesterday to look t foliage. 8-(
But, am happy that I am free to get the VFR and hope to get it this Sat. BTW, the bike is currently owned through Honda Financials - how does the title transfer/payment work when there is a lien? Never done this.

I think you will like the VFR quite a bit better than the FZ6 if you are more into touring. The FZ6 is a good naked sportbike with ergos that are comfortable. The VFR will feel like it has power everywhere compared to the FZ6. The VFR is a bit heavier.

I am not sure how the title transfer/payment works when there is a lien.
