    obnoxiously cross posted across...the world:

these generic 43 mill clip(link below) ons are listed as being ok for the gen 6 VFR-they of course have no rise compared to the stock bars-ie lower than stock . I actually like this feature but wonder if a bar that low would result in my fingers being squished between the bar and tank in a tank slapper or possible den the tank in a fall. anyone know for sure if these would be OK?

bike is used exclusively for track days.

During low speed maneuvering with stock bars, my thumbs get stuck between the grips and the tank, so I've gotta believe that these would be worse.

hmmmm been thinking of that myself.
I think the tank is a smaller problem then the upper.
after looking into a few things, I see the SP1 / 2 upper and side fairings will fit and will give you more room to move the clip on's forward a bit.

well....from what I can tell yall having these clip ons in hand is, since they don't have the locating pins like the honda clipons , you can rotate them forward and actually gain a bit of hand clearence-they don't seem to be hitting the uppers either-fairly nicely made and sitting with the bike on the stand i seem to be able to get my shoulder lower and farther to the inside...best of all the rare honda stock clip ons ive seen on fleabay were always like 135 bucks each BIN or already bidded up nearly that high... whch is funny 'cause theyre only about 150 new from my local honda shop. i had been premptively looking for hem for quite awhile-for spares before the crash and I like that these have replaceable tubes. I do guess that these wouldnt be so nice for touring, but i'm not touring!

so thats it- about 380 dollars later the crashed bike is new again so i can crash it some more.

    57 bucks-foot peg/braket and brake res/brake pedal
157 for the clutch cover, 12 for the gasket 12 for grips, 28 for cheapo brake handle and 98 bucks for the clipons

This thread has me thinking about clip-ons now. Being a tall dude, I wonder how the lower (or, no-) rise of a clip-on setup would affect riding position and airflow over my head. As it is right now, the wind feels like it's hitting me in the middle of my helmet's face shield. I have a feeling that the riding position (for me) would end up being a bit more leaned forward, and possibly uncomfortable.
    Willy, is this your situation?

Also, do we know anyone with a 6-Gen who has clip-ons, and is 6ft tall or more?

    Good eye, thanks 02
looks like i can do 43mm's safely, but I'm not wild enough mix up the anodized colors.
I wonder if we could get Stoshmonster in this thread...

Wow, dude. I can already tell your bike is anything BUT secret! Thanks a ton for the pics though, believe it or not, they help quite a bit. Being 6ft 2in with boots on, I think a set of clip-ons would do me well. I find myself hunched over more often anyways.
You can remove pics now if you want! (I cannot wait to see the final product, btw!!!)

That is a stock Honda bar, I have one set of Heli's on mine and have seen the other set, neither looks anything like the stock big ol chunky bar.

The '03-'04 CBR600RR GPR V1 steering stabilizer kit will bolt right on to the 6th gen. bikes with one small modification Makaluma. You have to add two small spacers to the post mount to space it up 10mm.
Here's the link to my thread.>>>http://vfrworld.com/forums/mechanics-garage/24328-6th-gen-gpr-v1-steering-stabilizer-install.html

Here's a better pic of the post mount and spacers for you.

    Somebody give Metallican a cookie!

Yeppers that's just a plain old run of the mill ordinary garden variety nuthin' special old 6th gen. stock clip-on. We simply bead blasted it and painted it Coral Pink.
Just a heads-up Kevin,as long as you've got the Sato's on your wish list you might want to think about adding a Factory Pro EVO 7 shift star quick shift kit to go with them. Those two parts when used together are an absolute match made in heaven.
Both my VFR and RC51 are equipped with that combo. Your shifts will be so smooth and precise that you'll never want to ride another bike without them.
