Hello all. My name is Mike and I'm new to this forum but not to motorcycles. I finally was able to acquire a 1985 VF1000R. I've wanted one ever since the late 90's when I had an 85 vf700f. Not enough power. Anyway this thing needs a lot of TLC. Looking forward to the first time I can ride it to an event. I've been lurking for a while and have learned a lot of cool stuff. This is a great site. I'll try to upload some pics of my new girlfriend. Thats my father standing behind it like Kilroy. DSCF0229.jpg

Welcome aboard!!! Those old VF1000's handle like tanks but they are still awesome and I would love to own one!! Please keep us posted with pics throughout your restoration. We look forward to seeing her back in her full glory.

It's always great to see an older bike being brought back to glory. I'm just finishing up restoring my '86 VF1000R. It's been apart now for 2 years.

Welcome, doesn't look to be in too bad a shape. I spent over 2 years restoring my '85. Good luck!

Thank you all for your attention. I hope to show up with this bike at a rally in the new year.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to that. I used to be stationed at Ft Huachuca back in the 80's so I'm familiar with Scottsdale. I used to ride all over AZ when I was there. Gorgeous place! But it's a Dry Heat.
