What is the ideal temp to run at? I have hurd that 215 is where a stock vfr 800 runs at, but then i hurd that if you drop it to around 190 it will give you more hsp and run smoother?

not to be confused with herd or heard.

Don't mind me, I'm the resident smart ass. Welcome to the forum. Can't help ya with your question but others will be along in no time to chime in with opinions. Personally I find it hard to believe that 25degrees difference is going to give you any noticeable change. When your temp gauge is half way up to normal do you notice more HP and rough running?

I don't know about this one. Gopher is that you? On the chance that this is a legit question I'll answer by saying that 215 is high while your moving, although completely normal while sitting at a light. I don't know about more HP, but my bike does seem to run stronger at temps between 180-200.

+1 on the what havcar said about running between 180-200 being the sweet spot. What model/yeah are we talking about here? Done a coolant flush recently? Good synthetic oil will also lower operating temps.
