What is it with this weather? To cheer myself up I have just booked my next Europe trip. Joining up with 8 Ulysses-UK riders and more than 40 Ulysses Germany riders heading for the Black Forest and the Swiss/French Alps from 8 to 17 June. If its like the last meet they organised, (http://www.lifford-cooke.com/motorbiking/documents/sanktwendel.pdf) its going to be a brilliant. Bring on the sunny weather!

I'm here in sunny Cheshire, only 5 miles from Oulton park too.
Got a 1986 VF500F2F that i am doing a partial restore on, as it hasn't been on the road since 1996, hoping to have it road worthy come the springtime in March and get some miles under it's belt.

welcome to the site. there are a few from your side of the pond, but a lot of them hang on a more euro-centric vfr site. I don't know the name, but I'm sure it'll come up.

From Ballyhaunis Co Mayo Ireland, originally. Rode all over the Isles in the early 1980s. Waiting to see photos of the areas you folks ride.

Hmm - some forum software glitches can be beyond any logic...

Anyway you are here now and we hope you will find plenty of interest on VFRW.

(I wonder if the Bikers Oracle forum name you are trying to sign on with, has already been used by someone else - hence the brick wall. Perhaps its time to try to join using an entirely new logon name?)

    Take care

Hi there from Tamworth, Staffordshire. Passed my test at 48 yrs young in December 2013 and went out and brought a lovely 02 vfr abs. Love it, go out every time the weather allows me too.

Hi Neil - welcome to the MadHouse:welcome:

If you don't want folks ragging on you, rush straight over to the "introductions" forum and say hello and add a photo or two of that VFR - as folks on here really do like to see photos of your VFR before they believe it exists!

When you get a chance, don't forget to update your forum profile to include the bike specs and rough location - that way it will appear alongside all your posts and if you hit problems or need help you may find someone nearby willing to swing by and offer help or advice in exchange for a few beer tokens!

Meantime have a good look around at all the sub forums - and you will find online manuals in the "specifications" and loads of other useful stuff about your vtec, including known issues, fixes and mods.

With all that rain you folks are having just now, like me you may not be out much on the VFR, but its a great time to start planning summer trips.

I really admire your style going with a VFR as your first big bike! As you will soon realise, these bikes are just ideal for long haul trips across Europe. If you have never contemplated setting off abroad on a motorbike, then it may seem a bit daunting to consider alone. In which case you may want to catch up with the Ulysses Club GB - who are heading to Germany and on to the Alps in June and will be happy to have you tag along on the VFR(even if many insist on riding BMWs). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=usZLfnxtGzY

If you are looking for things to try out that VFR on, then some of the following may be of interest. If you want to know more about any of them just use Google.

Over here in the Alps, the risk of snow covered roads means the first big Alpine event is not until 6 April the Spadino Memorial ride http://www.mototurismodoc.com/motoraduni/motoraduno-dettagli.php?recordid=4116 which even when its snowing still draws thousands of riders from across Europe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROZABsIjj9U

In June I will be meeting up with the Ulysses-Club GB riders for a meet in the Saarland and afterwards most of the GB riders will be heading down via the Vosges Mountains to spend a few days in riding in the Western Alps hosted by SAMVA my local Motorbike Club.

On 18-20 July SAMVA will be holding its 4th Burn Mountain Rock Festival with daily motorbiking events - freestyle FMX displays and 3 days of rock music - so at least there is one event I won't have far to ride.

    Take care
