    Hey Y'all,

I've only been riding a couple years but have already owned three bikes: I started on a Suzuki GS500, then bought a 2002 Triumph Spring S/T, and now finally have what I've wanted for a long time: a 2000 VFR. The Sprint had a great engine, but there were tons of things about it I didn't like. It was heavy, carried its weight really high, had a long reach to the handlebars, was too broad across the fuel tank, and had mediocre switch gear and pretty marginal fit and finish.

The VFR fixes all of that (and only cost $200 more than the Sprint), and I finally have something that makes me smile just looking at it. I found the bike outside of Asheville, NC, with only 8,900 miles on it! Needless to say, it looks and feels new. Now I'm waiting for the cold spell here to snap.

    Congrats and welcome aboard.

Now its time for an aftermarket exhaust so that V4 can sing in all its glory!

Well, how's this for irrational: I found a good deal on a Two Brothers on CL and bought it a couple weeks BEFORE pulling off the switch to the VFR. Only thing is, the mid-pipe doesn't seem to fit right. It came off a '98 and either doesn't fit right on a 2000 because of the cat or else there's something wrong with the mid-pipe (like it doesn't slip all the way on the cat end because the flange of the mid-pipe is buggered up inside).

Thanks, KC-10 FE. I think you've identified my problem; I didn't remove the "gasket," which appears to be part of the OEM exhaust pipe at first glance. Closer inspection, however, reveals it's a piece that's sleeved over the stock pipe. I'll remove it and see where it gets me.

Both red and yellow 5th gens look killer with polished wheels. If you love it now you'll love it even more after 10 or 20k miles.

    Congrats! Nice looking bike.

Having both a 5th gen vfr and a Triumph triple (1050), I have to say I love both engines. Nice you got to own both and ended up with the one you like best :)

I agree, since Crusty is our resident fashonista and arbitor of cool. He's only a little gay, so not to worry.

Hi. Great choice of bike and colour (snap!). I had wanted black, but ended up with the opposite as it was on offer (New). I now love it in yellow as I can pick it out in any car park, and I'm sure cagers see me that bit sooner.
My 99 Fix has carried me on some great trips and always obliged every request. Just watch out for the reg/rec. Apart from that, ENJOY!
