    HI

Happy new year. This is my first post!

I had read some post looking for help but I couldn't fine a similar issue.

I have a 90 vfr750, I already install R/R from R1 and replace the stator once also and the battery too right now it use Yuasa.
It´s was running fine but last week I was in a ride and the bike dies. When I got home back I notice the battery was hot and without water inside. The cap holes of the battery looks push out maybe for the temp of the battery. I put water on it and leave it charging all night and now its running fine, but today I checked again the battery is going dry I had to refilled again.

I use multimiter to read the Volts from battery and it no goes more than 14 V on high rev without lights. Also I read the volts in the RR and it shows constant volts.

One thing that I think the exahust is heating the battery I read it with a temp meter and the temp around the exahust is close to the same as battery.

I bought a protective head mat for the battery to try cold down but it doesnt work very well, the temp doesn't go down too much.

Somebody had or has a similar problem with battery?

I appreciate any help with this issue.

    Best Regards
    Guillermo Araya

(Sorry for my english, Im located in Costa Rica)

If the system is not over charging and you're still losing fluid, the battery case must have a hole in it. You stated that the top of it is deformed, so the battery needs to be replaced.

There is no heat source that the battery needs protection from, except itself. I would not recommend trapping that heat in with any insulation.

    Thanks for your reply.

I try already insulate the battery but always receive heat. The battery case is fine but I don´t know if the bike loose any kind of cover/insulation from the exhaust. The rear exhaust is very close to the battery case and after running a while if you remove the seat you feel the heat from the engine and every part around feels hot.

I'm with Karazy here. All of us have exhaust right next to to the battery and no one has the problem. Since you verified it's not over charging, looking for a leak would be a good idea.

I just re-check the voltage with other multimeter from a friend and I found the following:

At idle the volts are : 12-13.5V
At 5000 rpm to red line: 20 Volts.

Yes sorry for the post but I didnt know my voltmeter was bad.

I have to replace the R/R again that R1 R/R its fuck in the output voltage....

    Best Regards everybody.
