Just wanted to get some input on what folks have done re: throttle locks like Vista Cruise. VC seems to be the least expensive alternative on the market.
All I'm really interested in is when I'm droneing being able to get some hand relief for a few seconds w/o speed dropping off too much. I really need the model number if anyone remembers it.
I'm not really interested in the bar end kind because of the cost.

Just get one that is made for a Honda. You will be told there isn't one for a VFR but you can make it work. You will have to slide the grip away from the throttle lock so it will release freely. You will also need to shim(with some washers) the bar weight so it doesn't stick.

    Digital Cruise Control for VFR!

Two Brothers(I think is the name) from australia makes a digital cruise control that you can install on your bike for around $450!

I just bought a Throttle Rocker II from some guy on eBay for about $10 - including shipping. And to my surprise, the thing is the nuts!
    Take a look at http://www.throttlerocker.com/
Once you're under way, you simply relax your grip and your wrist holds the throttle in place. The new second generation product (II) uses a velcro strap to snug the rocker around the grip. Works like a charm with no slip.

I have used the Throttle Meister, and still use the Throttle Rocker and Vista Cruise.

    - The Throttle Meister was the best (but most spendy: $125) and won't transfer to different bikes. Takes a little practice to turn it on while cruising since you are using the same hand that you use to hold the throttle.

    - The Vista Cruise works great with a bit of modification and is the most convenient to use. It will scratch your tank at full steering lock unless you grind a little off the end of the lever. I put on Helibars and it doesn't come close now.

    - The Rocker (made from crack?) is addictive and once you begin using it you will miss it if you take it off.

    Again with the Throttle Rocker

I put a Throttle Rocker II on my gen5 four weeks ago and have become addicted. It took me a half dozen tries to get it in the perfect position. Even then you have to be careful not to blip the throttle at inappropriate times. It forces some throttle hand discipline on you. I like the vista cruise concept, but I found adjusting it too fussy for even me and so I ditched it.

A buddy of mine has been using the throttle rocker for 2 years and would be difficult to convince to take it off his bike. Bang for the buck, try a throttle rocker II.

I have a Throttle Meister. It works very well. Luckily I didn't have to buy it as it came with the bike when I bought it. They do appear to be a bit pricy though. But, it is very high quality. I think it looks better than the factory bar ends too. Here is a link: http://www.throttlemeister.com/tm.html

I think this is what you are thinking of www.mccruise.com . I had one on my old BMW'r it rocked, worked very well. Much better than a throttle lock, as it locks the speed, not the throttle position.
Hated the throttlemeister as you can't set it for 5 or 10 mph over the limit, or whatever your comfort level is. As you go up a hill, your speed drops with the throttle locks. Go down a hill, and you speed up, maybe wayyy up. Someone pulls in front of you, so you have to slow down for a while? Now you have to srew with finding that perfect throttle opening again. The cruise control, you just push the resume button, very slick.

Havent' put it on the VFR yet, but toying with it.

    Throttle Rocker

I got one of these, only $10! Definitely gives your wrist a rest, I wouldn't get one of the more expensive options, they don't provide that much more comfort.

    Throttle Rocker

I have the 2004 VFR and a Throttle Rocker installed. It was the best $10 I have spent thus far. PLEASE be careful in traffic that you don't blip the throttle. I did and nearly hit the backside of a car. If it were not for my blindingly fast reflexes (and a great deal of luck) I would be looking for front end parts. Just twist it out of your way when in traffic and only use on the open road is my advice. Ride safe!

Does anyone have the part number for the Caterpillar O- Ring I would need to try as a cruise control of sorts? (2004 VFR) I think I saw the part number some time ago but I can't find it now. Thanks!

sdnewt - the cat o-ring part number I have seen on other sites is - 8M4991. Size is determined by bar end size.

Like above....I have an 04 that I put a Throttle Rocker II on. I purchased it for $10 at the Honda dealer. Well worth the $. Be careful at first as you can bump the throttlel...but very easy to get use to.

That's the best description of it i have ever heard!
I have a screw in my right hand and always get weird looks about my rocker, especially at track days. I forgot to put one on my new VFR and rode 15 minutes to work and was close to dying. Every bike I own has one, but my VFR will get a locking set-up as well.

Did you verify if the posted part# was the correct one for the VFR?

Here's a real world example you can believe: Friday before last - the 23rd - a buddy of mine and I started out at 4:00 am from south shore of Boston, headed into Canada, hit Quebec, Montreal, back through Vermont and NH, before rolling back into my driveway at 11:00 pm that night. Just under 1100 miles in 19 hours. The throttle rocker absolute RULES! Could not, in any way shape or form, have done this without it. No cramping and no residual pain after. Proof positive.
Once I get my pix downloaded I'll post some details about the trip. BTW - my buddy rides a Heritage Softail - an example of "Détente" in the war of HD vs. the metrics.
    Cheers.

+ 1 on the throttle rocker. I have it on both my bikes. It has gotten to the point that it feels weird if I take it off.

I have used the cheap throttle locks - cant remember the name, but its nice for the hwy drones..
