I'm surprized to hear you say that. I just came from a '93 CBR1000F and I've taken the CBR up to an indicated 280 kmh. I tried to do the same thing on the 06 VFR on the same road, same conditions and I had to back off after 250 because it took so long to get up to that speed and the speed was rising so slowly at that point I was running out of road. 280 kmh = 175 mph, 250 kmh = 155 mph.

No slag on the the VFR, it's a great bike - but it doesn't come close to the power of the litrebike.

havent had a chance to see the top speed on my 93 vfr750, but my old 85 vf500 toped out around 95-100 if memory serves me correctly, and my 1987 honda super magna got up to 145 with a little bit more to give, could have probably got to 150-155 if i would have kept it at wot.

I tested mine last night.I threw some dyna beads in the tires because I had a shimmy at 70-74 MPH.I went on the the highway full gear and rode and noticed the shimmy went away. Then highway was clear no cars and straight for about 7 miles so I opened it up and held it tight and got 146 on a incline and according to GPS my speedo is 3 MPH off so 143MPH!!! that was fast enough for me...

I haven't done a top run on the new girl...and to be honest I doubt I will. When I was younger & somewhat crazier I did get Charlotte up to 135 - confirmed by a friend who was behind me. First gen VF500F with street legal racing fuel.

    GAWD I love VFRs...

i saw 162 indicated today on bahia honda bridge. i was running my friend on his busa from a 100 mph roll on. i got the jump and pulled a little on him. by 130 he started catching up, and by 140 he was walking away. the bike pulled strong to about 150. it crept up to 160 and 161 162 seemed to take forever.
he pegged it out pretty easily, (186mph) with the strong tail wind at our backs.
    side notes:
we had a 20-30 mph tail wind
he said he started in fourth gear at around 7 grand
im thinking i was in third at about 10+ grand (which explains why i was hanging with the busa for a while)
i might have been able to tuck in a little tighter. i just got a new windshield. thought it was tinted... not its painted so i couldnt get under it and see through.
none the less it seems to pull harder up top than the zero gravity sport tour.

Riding home from school Tuesday night with my buddy Jesse in his Durango and another student on a candy red CBR F4i on the Loop 101 South from Bell Rd to about Thomas....

Started out all 3 of us pacing at 80 mph, then we backed off due to the previous presence of DPS in the bushes along that stretch the past few weeks while Jesse kept on going in the HOV lane. Once we got past the normal hiding spots I looked over at the guy on the F4i who looked my bike over and gave a "Lets roll" nod. He then took off on me, so I dropped it to 4th and gave her to about 9k rpm, then to 5th @ 8k rpm and slipped her back into 6th gear passing him pretty quickly as I did.

Next thing I saw was Jesse's Durango on the left fly by and I pushed what seemed about 1/2 mile more till we came up on some cars up ahead of us. I rolled off the throttle and she dropped speed pretty quickly, so I'm not sure just how fast we pushed her... but I swear the speedo was reading just shy of 150 mph and the rpms sounded like they were up in the 9k rpm range before I let off the throttle and started my decel.

Jesse said he's never saw a VFR go that fast, let alone an '86 VFR 750. She's now known as the fastest VFR at school and has a new found respect among those who park their ponies nearby.

well i feel pretty slow in this one but 111 on my 85 vf500 with relative ease. Had more room for sure. Havent mustered up the balls to do it yet on the 110 stock rear tire, haha.

I have video of my speedo at 151 mph (2000ft above sea level in Congress AZ). I have seen 164 mph indicated on a 2 mile stretch of old Hwy 80 between Gila Bend and Buckeye AZ. 6th gen - only mod at the time was a K&N drop in air filter.

148-154mph on a 2006 VFR800A sustained for 5 minutes... stock gearing but with Power Commander at sea level. That's all she could do.
    Where, how, why?
    Don't ask, don't tell...
