While I have never used this product, it seems to get a lot of positive reviews.
I happened to see it at my local Wal-Mart today. (Motorcycle Section)
They also had the DuPont Motorcycle Degreaser for cleaning a chain.

I think the price was $6.96 for each.
DuPont says both products are O-ring safe.

I think that product was discussed here a while back and the consensus was that it was great stuff. So far, I have been unable to find it here in Canada

Are there any regulations that would prevent me from sending you some?
You can PM or email me if you prefer.

Google DuPont's main site for usage, MSDS and where to get the stuff probably even in East Timor. Or 1-800-387-2122

Randy I use the Dupont on the left. Found it first for about $5 at Lowes. Both are the same stuff. The yellow can is a bit thicker than the blue can. Same product though. Might be easier to find.

    Amazon.com

All three products are available through Amazon, but I have no idea if shipping to Canada is practical.

I have also read that Lowe's now has some stores in Canada.
If they carry the DuPont™ Teflon™ Multi-Use Lubricant, they probably could get the Chain-Saver as well.
Being the big time operation that they are, they might not want to bother with it.

I think I also read somewhere that some Ace Hardware and some True Value Hardware stores carry it.

I've been using the Chain Saver since I saw it at Wally World last summer. I've found it to be darn good stuff.

Thanks for the offers to ship. The Lowe's here in Canada area all back east in the Toronto area I think. None out here on the west coast. Walmart is big though. We just had a huge Walmart open right here in Chilliwack (biggest so far in BC) and I must confess, I haven't looked for it there yet. Normally I don't shop at Walmart. But I will go look. So Charles, the testimony here is excellent. Nothing negative said about the DuPont stuff. Chan cleaner is interesting too. I have not heard of that stuff until now. The chain cleaner I use here is good stuff but quite expensive. So when I look for the lube, I will look for that as well. I am not aware of any regs that would prevent this stuff being shipped. But thank you anyways, I do not live that far from the Washington BC border and seems that about $200.00 is the magic number that they let you go through with

I use the one on the left also and admit it seems to work just fine, AND I can pick it up at my local ACE hardware which I prefer to do since it is locally owned, etc.

    I love it! :biggrin::biggrin:
I only go to Wal-Mart when it is my last resort.
I even ordered the Chain-Saver and the cleaner through Amazon and paid a little more to keep from buying it at Wal-Mart.

I would have purchased it at my locally owned Ace affiliate, but I wanted the Chain-Saver version. I don't know that it is any better, but it was what I decided I wanted.

My wife likes to shop at Walmart but if I asked her to get me some, she would probably come home with some 4 in 1.

That would be better than her bringing you home some of those chicas from The People of Walmart. "Getting me some" in that context takes on a really new meaning.

I think you could use Wesson oil, first cold-pressed extra virgin hand-selected olive oil from the lower slopes of Mount Aetna in Sicily, bear grease, whale blubber, smelly 90 wt gear oil, motor oil or something high-tech.....as long as the oil keeps the external chain from rusting and pitting; the important oil is contained within the o-rings.

DuPont is responsible for many super-fund cleanup sites, environmental pollution, napalm, nerve gas, enough reason to avoid their products, IMO.

Gear oil happens to be what is recommended in my 2004 owner's manual.
They don't specify "smelly" though.

I'm certainly not qualified to tell anyone what is or is not needed to prolong the life of a chain, but IMO proper adjustment, keeping it reasonably clean, free of rust, and the "O"/"X" rings intact are the most important parts of chain care.

So....gasp....I walked into.....gasp....W.A.L.M.A.R.T. tonight. Smiled at the greeter and all. Search this new huge store high and low and could not find this product. Seems us Canadians may not measure up to DuPont's ideals. But I am still looking. Maybe here it is not DuPont but LaPont. I wonder.

In the Wal-Mart I was in, there was a section of shelving about 10' or 12' long that held all the motorcycle related products. It is in the same general area as the rest of the automotive products, but not directly connected.
If you see boxes of helmets and a pegboard display of gloves, you found it.
The store here had one product facing each of the Chain-Saver, Degreaser, motorcycle oil, (Only 20W-50 I believe).
One thing you will probably find with Wal-Mart is the constant change of product mix seasonally. They will often reset thousands of items at those times and it's very possible that it is a little early in the year for a lot of motorcycle stuff to be displayed.

Keep in mind that while the Chain-Saver is probably a good product at a good price, you can still use a lot of other very good chain lubes. Plus, you wouldn't have to go to Wal-Mart to get them.

As an aside, the local Wal-Mart is the only one I have spent any time in and it has to be the most poorly run retail establishment I have ever shopped in. Dirty, out of stock, incorrect prices on the shelves, under staffed, some good employees, but lots of them that totally ignore you while they stand around and B.S. with each other.
I have several interesting stories that I won't bore you with here.
If some of you want to hear them, I could post them in the "Anything Goes" forum.

Nothing better than a few retail stories to warm the heart on these cold Winter days. I found the degreaser and chain cleaner in my local Wally's whips and chains dept.

Is chain saver basically the same as chain wax?

Having ridden shaft drive bikes for the last several years, I'm just relearning chain care, but it would seem they are very similar.
Here's a link to a review at Web Bike World that might be of some interest.
