Here's hoping and praying that all of the NZ VFR riders, your family and friends came through this unscathed.

+++++^. But I did see someone posting what appeared to be after the quake hit. I am surprised we have not heard anything on this site from them about the quake yet. I wish them only the best.

I just did a quick search in Members. There are 62 members here from New Zealand. Hopefully, they will let us know how they are fairing down there. Obviously, they have other priorities right now.

Looks bad, our thoughts are with our friends across the ditch. Oz TV has had blanket coverage on all channels besides dreadful images it has also shown how organised the Kiwis are with their Emergency Services in rescuing, treating injuries and the setting up of temporary shelters.

One positive story I heard a radio interview where with dust still settling they were using motorcyclists to quickly get Emergency personal through damaged and blocked roads to disaster sites.

The first thing I thought of when I heard about the quake and deaths was our VFR brethren there. Hope all of you, your families, and your friends came through unscathed. New Zealanders are in my thoughts.

Was there 20 years ago - some of the nicest and most welcoming people I ever met were in New Zealand. All the best to our Kiwi friends.

Thank you guys on behalf of all of New Zealanders. Things are still very uncertain in Christchurch. I am the national manager of the NZ blood service and luckily based in Auckland. Things have been frantic for us ensuring blood and blood products are available. We have not needed to do a special blood drive. It has all been about logistics and supporting our very brave lab team working in the basement of Christchurch hospital. The initial rush of casualties is now over and now it is occasional recoveries of injured people who have been buried for some time.
Blood supplies still good and doing all we can.

    Don.

I'm in Auckland too, thankfully, but can report we are minus one fellow kiwi, missing presumed dead from the ctv building. Thankfully family, and all others we know are accounted for, albeit with broken houses, and possibly no jobs to return to in the next few days, weeks, or months. The same cannot be said for nearly 100 confirmed, and numerous more who are still unaccounted for.
Muz was not a biker, but a fellow Mac geek, and a highly respected businessman in his own right. He will be missed by all who's lives he touched I am sure.

First of all I'd like to say a BIG 'Thank you' to those who have acknowledged our National tragedy in this thread.
    your support is appreciated.
For me and my family this is personal. We have been monitoring the situation constantly since Tuesday as we have family in christchurch. My wifes sister and her family live in the port city of Lyttelton, which is pretty much where the epicentre was.
They have been evacuated, and their house has been split in 2. But thank god they have survived and are all safe, as many, many didnot.
For those forum members directly from the area- know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I must also give thanks to the masses of support that has flooded into the region from overseas. The level of support is extra ordinary.
These include Urban Search & Rescue teams from: United States, Austalia, Japan, United kingdom, Singapore & Taiwan.

Police re inforcements from Australia-NSW & SA districts.

There is so much happening at the moment it is hard to comprehend.
