I've got a set of new 7/8inch progrips for my 98 VFR. Left side is no problem to put on. But the throttle side... I measured and it's an inch in diameter! I thought 7/8ths was standard for these things?! Anyways, guess I'm asking all of you who know, if I use grip glue, or soap and water, or soak in hot water, or whatever method ... will I be able to get the 7/8inch grip on to the throttle side? I've done grips before and have not had to use much force to get the replacement grip on there. I don't have an air compressor to help. I guess my forearm strength just isn't what it once was in my younger days. I'm going to be trying to put the grip on and people walking by will be like "whaaaat is he doing to that bike?" Thanks!
The grips should be two different inside sizes. The clutch side will be the same inside diameter as the bars and the throttle side will have a larger inside diameter to slip over the throttle sleeve. Sounds like you may have put the throttle grip on the clutch side.
+1 to that. If you have, you can remove the left hand grip with a thin flat screwdriver. Slip it up under the grip and try to loosen the adhesive. I just replaced mine and they came off easy enough. Good Luck
