gas in my oil????

    last week i changed my oil for the first time and when i did i noticed that it was higher then the full level mark. I didnt think to much of it and didnt smell it. After a filter and oil change i was right at the full mark. Ive put 500 miles on it sense then and today i checked it and sure as shit its high again. The oil still has a good viscosity to it but reeks of gas. This is a new bike to me, Ive had it a few months now. Its an 04 with 19k miles on it. The bike is equipped with Remus cans that have been straight piped and it also has a power commander installed. But the power commander is set on a real modest level. My question to yall is where and how is the fuel making its way into my oil. If it helps, also when i changed the oil i also cleaned out the k&n air filter and when doing so i noticed a little bit of oil coming out of my intake.

    Any insight would be greatly appreciated

    I was gonna say check your floats but its an 04...non carb..... do you have any power loss? maybe you have a cylinder thats not firing and has a ring that the gas is getting by?........ hopefully a guru about FI will show up soon....

    More than likely you over filled
    When you change oil go to bottom line or just above. Ride , Then add later.
    You didnt mention what type of oil you use etc. Blow by happens, I wouldnt worry just yet.

    The bike runs fine if not great and definitely no power loss. Now if i rev at idle just sitting still it will actually blow a little smoke which tells me my power commander is over fueling the motor. I down shift into every thing also, stops and turns. Sometimes those rpms will get pretty high so im sure there is plenty of blow by going on. With that and an over fueled motor then maybe that's where my problem lies. What do yall think?

    I am by no means and expert on anything, but to get enough fuel in your oil to affect the Fill sight lines to that degree in 500 miles, I would think you would notice poor performance. I have no idea why the level is increasing other than you are checking at one point with the bike on the centre stand, and checking the next time with the bike on the side stand. Huge difference in oil levels then. I would think that if anything, when you shut your bike down, the oil level would be lower until such time as all the oil had time to drain back into the pan. I agree with BP. Fill to bottom line, run a bit, then add to. Everything I have read says that your oil level should land mid way between the two lines, not at the top line. That leaves no room for error and you could look at some expense you would rather not.
