I haven't taken the tank down very low, but what are the general findings of the Accuracy of the fuel gauge and how much fuel is left in the tank when the light comes on?

Online specs list a 21 litre tank with a 4 litre reserve.....so the light comes on when 4 litres left?

I took mine in on the light itself the other day (low fuel light on). Put in 3.5 oon a 5.5 gallon fuel tank. So, its pretty safe.

I'm not worrying about running out of gas....just trying to see what the range would be with the fuel light on.

So when your light came on you filled up and put in 3.5 Gal (13.25L) in a 5.5 Gal (20.82L) Tank.

You had aprox 2 Gal (7.5 L) left in the tank when you filled up. Meaning the Fuel light comes on pretty early.

My fuel light hasn't worked since I got the bike. It's the only thing on the machine that isn't functional and it drives me crazy!

Sorry, just ranting...wish I could help you with your question.

On my gen 4 it seems that the light comes on way too early. I've been planning to pull the sensor in the tank and bending the float holder wire, but never got around to it.

It really is helpful to know exactly how far you can ride after the light comes on, so i've funneled some petrol into a 2 litre coke bottle carried in my backpack and ridden 'til she quits.

No guessing, now i know exactly how far.

When the low fuel light comes on "the old girl" it takes ~1 gallon of fuel if I stop right away...

    Nice! Thanks!

So 1 gallon is aprox 3.35Litres.

I'm averaging around 5.8L/100kms (rounding up a bit) ...so I can go aprox 50kms (ish) when the light is on.

A good general number for me to keep in mind. Thanks all!
